Nintendo has finally revealed its upcoming Pokémon games, Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, the latest entries into the main Pokémon video game franchise.
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, are role-playing games similar to the original Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue games, but they will be fully rendered in 3D with varying camera angles and a more cinematic perspective, putting the full power of the Nintendo Switch for use.
According to Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield – games producer Junichi Matsuda, the games are aimed at veteran players, new players of Pokémon Go and Pokémon Let’s Go, and brand-new folks.
Games director Shigeru Ohmori reveal that games will be placed in the Galar Region – the quiet countryside with snowy mountains and vast plains.
Nintendo also revealed the three new starters Pokémon for the game: Grookey – a grass Pokémon, Scorbunny – a fire Pokémon and Sobble – a water Pokémon.
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be released simultaneously worldwide for the Nintendo Switch in late 2019. Nintendo has promised more updates on the game in the months to come – so stay tuned.
