Happy 30. Birthday WWW !

World Wide Web is having a birthday party today.

This service, which is bound and interconnected in our lives in so many different ways that it would be really hard to imagine our daily routines without it!

The main guy who we have to blame is Tim Berners-Lee, a British scientist at CERN, who invented World Wide Web ( WWW ) in 1989. The first intention of his invention was to automatically exchange some information between scientists on universities and science institutions around the world. Two years later, WWW became publicly available.

The first page for internet was created on CERN and as such, it became the first Website on the world. It was created as a www project, and computer which was serving that page was Tim Berners’s personal computer, called the NeXT machine. That computer is still safely kept in CERN.

If you wish to take a look on how the first web page looked like, you can do it through this link.
