Along with the graphics, music, and the gameplay itself, Minecraft dungeons is still pretty vague. That gives the player space to use their imagination in order to fill in the blanks. After all, that’s what has kept Minecraft at the top for all these years. Dungeons seem like a simplified Diablo game which isn’t a bad thing. Something straightforward like this is suited for the younger audience that Minecraft has.

What is Minecraft Dungeons about?

Mojang published Minecraft Dungeons in 2020 and since then the game turned out to be a success. It is a dungeon crawler with some elements of hack and slash gameplay. Players walk their way through different dungeons fighting monsters, solving puzzles, and killing bosses.

The opening cutscene tells the story of an Illager named Archie. He was outcasted by villagers and forced to travel the world. During his wandering, he found a powerful artifact that turned him into an Arch-Illager. It granted him magical powers, but also made him evil. Players play as heroes with a quest to defeat him.

Minecraft Dungeons also features many DLCs: Echoing Void, Hidden Depths, Flames of the Nether, Howling Peaks, Creeping Winter, and Jungle Awakens. Each of them costs 6 euros. However, the full bundle is only 20 and has all of the DLCs and many cool things such as the Hero cape and chicken pet.

The Gameplay

Like we said before, the game is very straightforward. Before you play, however, you can customize your character however you like. Even though the game has a main storyline, it is more focused on the gameplay itself. At the beginning of each level, a narrator welcomes you into the story of that part and from then on you fight your way through surprisingly long levels.

Another good thing about Minecraft Dungeons is the way loot works. Throughout your playthrough, you will pick up a lot of different items. There’s different armor, weapons, interesting potions that act as buffs, or other artifacts that can add a fresh kick to your gameplay.

This game is also multiplayer. You can play with your friend either with two controllers or online. Later on, the levels get pretty chaotic which makes it convenient to have a friend with you. It certainly enhances the whole experience of playing as well.

In-game currency and enchanting points

In your basecamp, you can spend in-game currency to interact with different traders and roll for different gear. As you level your character, you will also get enchanting points. They are used on items in order to enhance the stats. Another good thing about Minecraft Dungeons is the great rewards for exploration. Even though the game shows you where you need to go to complete the quest you’re on, it’s still possible to wander away from that path. That way, you can experience the game a lot better and earn good loot and additional enchanting points.

Minecraft Dungeons is simple in a lot of ways, but that’s the beauty of it. The music and graphics really reminiscence the original Minecraft in a lot of ways. Along with new types of mobs, an interesting story and a lot of different loot, this game certainly won’t disappoint any Minecraft fan.

What is PUBG about?

At the beginning of the match, all of the players get put together on a single plane from which you pick your location and jump off. Basically, you start off naked – with no armor, no ammo, and no guns. In order to get the upper hand over others, you loot all the things necessary that you find all around the map. The map progressively gets smaller and the last player standing wins the Chicken Dinner.

Starts of a decline

Like we previously said, PUBG, along with Fortnite, was the reason why the world went into a craze with battle royale videogames. After so many years, it’s natural to see a start of a decline in the game, but not in the way you’d expect. It isn’t because the game got boring. PUBG lacks optimization, especially on consoles. A lot of big streamers like Shroud or Dr. Disrepect moved on from playing the game, even though they have said multiple times that they loved it.

The game would be much better if it improved the graphics and platform optimization. You cannot even look at a building that’s 200 meters away. For a while, PUBG was in a place of stagnation. However, recently the developers have announced many improvements that are coming. So far, only the movement has been changed, but it gives the players something to look forward to.

New Era of PUBG

We can only speculate, but our predictions are that a lot of big changes are coming to PUBG this year. Most of the people who wanted to play PUBG probably purchased the game in these five years. So, a much bigger player base is not expected by anyone. It is also true that the previous price tag of 30 dollars has put some people off from getting it and it was certainly true for us:

On the other hand, a lot of old players are now returning. That is because of the positive changes that have been made to the game, and many more are announced to be in progress. The ones we saw so far are training mode for new players, changes in movement, backend configurations, and so on.

PUBG is a simple game and people like simplicity. You can easily explain a game like this to your grandpa: You are on an island along with 99 enemies, you got guns and you fight to be the last surviving. That’s what made it so popular on streaming platforms like Twitch. It is easy to follow and fun to watch, any battle royale is like that. With the team making positive changes, we can only expect this game to grow. But, a realistic shooter like PUBG will always have a niche following.

The mobile-based Endless Runner title, Subway Surfers entered the gaming scene during a period where Endless Runners were big in the mobile gaming arena. It came out alongside Temple Run and Sonic Dash but quickly rose to take the spotlight for its urban appeal.

Paying homage to modern street culture, fashion, and youth activities like skating, and getting in trouble with the authorities seems to have been a great move by the game’s developer, SYBO games. The game’s unique themes seem to have struck a chord with a younger generation of mobile gamers, as they have taken to the game in a big way.

Unbelievable success of the franchise

Subway Surfers, according to videogamestats.com, has logged 3 billion downloads. The game, which also has 100 million active monthly users, and makes over $80 million in revenue, on the iOS platform alone, has been so successful that it has spawned various editions of the title. Each edition of the Subway Surfers franchise is themed to a certain continent.

Sylvester Rishøj Jensen and Bodie Jahn-Mulliner founded SYBO Games – the studio behind the Subway Surfers title – in 2010 after winning a competition for a similar short film the previous year. The firm worked alongside games publisher Kiloo for two years, and the title saw its first release in 2012.

Subway Surfers – an urban legend

Mathias Gredel Norvig, the game stable’s current CEO, was a lead developer on the game during the early days. For a brief period, earlier this year, Subway Surfers became the subject of an urban legend that stated that the inspiration behind the game came from a grieving father/game developer who had lost his son in a similar train skating accident to the one depicted in the game.

The games house quickly took to Twitter to clear up any confusion that the rumor may have created. The game was designed to pay homage to street culture and diversity, according to the firm. SYBO CEO, Norvig claimed that “The influences for the game were a mix of passion, street culture, fashion, animation, music, graffiti, skateboarding.”

As with most – if not all – games that co-habit this genre with Genshin Impact, unlocking in-game rewards is time-consuming work, such much so, that some Genshin Impact accounts are worth thousands! Genshin Impact requires players to complete numerous quests and daily commissions. Being able to do this wherever you are is a major bonus for the mobile version of the game.

So, What Might Need a Little Improvement in Genshin Impact Mobile?

As with most good games, there are some points here and there that might not fit in well, or simply annoy players and Genshin Impact is by no means immune to this reality.

The lack of controller support for Android

This is a major factor, one would think that the developers would consider dishing out something like this to both platforms shortly apart from one another if a simultaneous release was impossible. This is particularly frustrating for players whose phones have smaller screens.

Level-gated Quests

One should note that their quest log will be awash with quest lines that they can’t access due to the low character levels. Solving this seems as easy as leveling upright? However, it’s not that simple when you have to pay attention to leveling up a four-character party to relatively similar levels in order to maintain a balanced team.

Genshin Impact is a thoroughly enjoyable title, even for players who aren’t necessarily fans of the RPG genre. The unique art style and vast fully explorable world are always a joy to experience on your mobile, even with the minor aforementioned issues.

What Kena: Bridge of Spirits is about?

Controlling the title character, Kena, the player must navigate a mystical world. That includes trying to solve problems that fall on the metaphysical side of existence. Aided by little creatures known as Rot, Kena is tasked with lifting a mystical corruption from her village and helping guide those who have passed into the next world. 

The title is the first offering from the developer, Ember Labs. The studio spent the first five years of its existence developing commercials and branded apps for firms. In 2016 they started putting-in work towards a full gaming project. 

Story of the game

The title features an engaging plot, even though there isn’t much of a backstory to the title character herself. The plot is based on mysticism and lore. It follows a young girl, named Kena, who helps guide spirits who are stranded between this world and the next. That includes helping them make peace with the mistakes of their past. As she travels about, she collects little spirit creatures called Rot, which help her in various ways.

Kena (voiced by Dewa Ayu Dewi Larassanti) is a spirit guide who, on her way to the Sacred Mountain Shrine, comes across an abandoned village. The village and the surrounding area happen to be under a curse. The curse causes the forest to decay and makes monsters spring up everywhere. This is revealed to be the doing of a masked spirit, who initially refuses Kena’s guidance. It is an elderly being named Zajuro, who informs Kena that helping the lost spirits within the village is what will clear her path to the Sacred Mountain Shrine. 

Spiritism inside Kena: Bridge of Spirits

She encounters the spirits of two young children, whose older sibling is a restless spirit that is overcome by corruption. The siblings were separated after an explosion. Emanating from the Sacred Mountain Shrine, it wiped out their village. The older sibling, Taro, searched for the little ones but was overwhelmed by the corruption which afflicts his village. After Kena collects the relics attached to the memories he (Taro) had in life, she can free him from the curse and guide the sibling spirits into the afterlife.

After some more touching tales, in which Kena battles and puzzle-solves her way to helping the deceased move on, she encounters the powerful, masked spirit again. It turns out to be Toshi, a former leader of the village. Her attempts to help him move on are, once again, rebuffed – as a result of the corruption being too strong.

She crossed into the spirit realm to collect relics connected to Toshi’s life but failed to free him. The showdown occurs on a mountain – quite fitting for a metaphysically themed title – where he fuses the Rot spirits with the corruption and creates a giant, super Rot. After defeating the creature and releasing the Rot, Toshi finally reveals how things got to that point. 

The Gameplay

Available on PlayStation 4, and 5 and PC – Kena: Bridge of Spirits is an Action/Adventure title with Platformer, and Puzzle elements embedded into the storyline. It is played from a third-person perspective and only allows for a single player. 

Kena’s arsenal is quite simple but effective. It features a staff and a spirit shield. Her staff can be used in combat, as a grappling hook, and as a plain old stick, to bash crystals while solving puzzles. An upgrade to the staff renders it with the ability to be used as a bow, enabling Kena to fire magical energy arrows at enemies.

On the defensive front, Kena is equipped with magic called Pulse Ability. When Pulse Ability is activated, it acts as her shield. It’s not permanent though and has its own health meter, which is depleted by attacks from enemies. The Pulse Ability can be used to find clues, or activate objects. Upgrading enables the player to dash forward, stun enemies, and pass through barriers leading to the spirit realm. The Pulse Ability shines when it allows Kena to lift and move big rocks, for platforming, or pancaking enemies. 

Kena also needs to collect little spiritual creatures called Rot, while running about completing tasks. These Rot act as helpers. Once Kena has collected enough Courage, she can employ the Rot to move objects, take certain shapes, and distract enemies. They can also be infused into an attack to make it stronger.

Final Thoughts

Kena: Bridge of Spirits, is a great Action/Adventure title, even though it is the first game from the developer. The game mixes a few old, and new, gaming concepts and delivers a charmingly enjoyable title.

The game’s visuals are phenomenal, with Ember’s animation experience shining through with this game. The infusion of Eastern spiritual concepts – Karma, meditation, etc. – into gameplay also offers a unique touch.

Despite the game’s over-the-top settings, and characters, along with Asura’s ridiculous motivations, it remains intensely fun to play. Well, there’s so little for the player to do except “help” the gameplay itself by mashing buttons here and there to help Asura along, as one will mostly be watching brilliantly presented cutscenes.

Any other title would fall flat on its face were it to be presented in the manner in which the Asura’s Wrath title is presented. CyberConnect2 mixed so many genres into this title, that it works brilliantly. At its base, it is an Action Brawler title but borrows elements from rail shooters, Science Fiction, Eastern mythology, and manga/animé that delivers an intensely entertaining story.

It’s pretty much an interactive animé, where the manly stereotypes that gave titles of the era their edgy appeal, are overplayed so brilliantly that Asura’s Wrath becomes a ridiculously fantastic masterpiece. Armed with a rage that knows no bounds, the lead character punches his way to vengeance against former allies, who have become immensely powerful cosmic beings.  He more than rises to the occasion; several times. 

The Story of Asura’s Wrath

Asura’s Wrath is set in a universe where the title character, Asura, is a powerful demigod who is powered by his wrath. He starts as one of the Eight Guardian Generals, who lead the Shinkoku Army against an evil force known as the Gohma. A fellow general, Deus, approaches him with a plan for a new age, called The Rebirth, but he refuses. Not too long afterwards, the Emperor is murdered and Asura has been framed for the act. His wife is murdered, his daughter taken from him, and he is executed and banished to Earth, or Gaea.

12,000 years pass before Asura, thanks to his rage and the urging of a clockwork spider known as the Golden Spider, climbs from the pits of hell and retakes his body. Back among the living, and disgusted at his former comrades for failing to end the Gohma threat in 12 millennia, as well as betraying him, Asura assumes the path of vengeance. 

Assura, while saving a village from a Gohma attack, soon meets with one of his old allies, Wyzen, who has come down to earth in a Capital ship. Wyzen tells Asura of the events that have taken place since his banishment, but Asura, angered by it all, interrupts the villain’s monologue with a punch to the mug. An intense battle ensues, but Asura makes quick work of Wyzen.

Not content to go down so easily, and perhaps eager to show his old ally how powerful he’s gotten over the years, Wyzen takes on a new form. As Gongen Wyzen, his promotions are exaggerated to the point where he is the size of a solar system. Giant Wyzen tries to crush Asura with an enormous finger, but the indomitable God of Wrath beats on the finger till the body attached to it is consumed in flame. 

This is just the beginning of the insanity. It gets more, and more, intense and satisfying as the story progresses. Asura dies a few more times but keeps returning by the power of his wrath. He is driven by the motivation to seek revenge for his betrayal, to recover his daughter who powers a machine that harvests human souls and to rid the world of the Gohma demon forces. And he does it with flair befitting a cosmic being. 

The gameplay of Asura’s Wrath

Though Asura’s Wrath is a beat-em-up styled title. It often finds itself switching between genres of game. Each level of the game is styled like an anime episode, and each level is grander and more spectacular than the previous one. We swear, there’s little chance for one to get bored here.

Asura comes with three gauges, your standard health gauge lets you know how close you are to restarting the level, while a burst gauge must be filled by doing damage to enemies. There is also a third gauge, the ‘Unlimited Gauge’, which works much like the burst gauge but allows one to deal heavier damage while it is engaged.

The burst gauge is usually engaged at moments that are vital to the plot, like finishing off a boss fight to advance through to the next cutscene. The game is, at times, a third-person beat-em-up, sometimes a rail shooter where Asura moves on a fixed axis and can only manoeuvre enough to get out of the way of enemy fire. 

Also integrated into gameplay, are interactive cutscenes, which will have users frantically pressing buttons to advance to the next stage in the sequence. Failure to keep up with the prompt button sequences may have one restarting the entire cutscene, which can happen often on higher difficulty levels. 

Platforms

This title, seeing as it first saw release back in 2012, is available on PlayStation, and Xbox 360. The game was built on unreal engine 4, which probably explains a lot. I mean, the title is just vibrant with the special effects, albeit presented in a 2D manga/animé style. 

The Verdict

Asura’s Wrath began to be developed in 2007, and the intention behind the concept, according to CyberConnect2, was to create a gaming title that would be appealing to a global audience. This would suggest that there was a method to the interactive anime styling of the title, as well as the mad action that makes up the game. 

The title came together quite well, being an instant hit in Japan while having mixed reviews in the West. Some western critics found the title’s interactive anime-Esque cutscenes refreshing, while others complained that they detracted from regular beat-em-up, brawler gameplay.  Either way, it seems critics could agree that the action in Asura’s Wrath makes sure the game is never predictable and creates anticipation for the next chapter in the story. 

Though the title has gotten on in years, it is still worth the occasional visit, as the overdone action just doesn’t get old. Asura’s Wrath was a one-time release, which has made it a sort of classic, one that one may want to interact with during these trying times. Asura’s never-say-die attitude is something of an inspiration.

Its sequel, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 was published in 2010. This game showed a more personal journey with the main character. Darth Vader tried to make a perfect clone of Starkiller, but things didn’t go as planned. The clone gained the man’s memories and realized he will be similarly betrayed. That’s when he escapes Vader and gets caught in the Galactic Civil War. This game, much like the previous one, faced some critics, including the short length of the game and an underwhelming story.

What happened to Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 3?

All though it was confirmed that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 3 was in development in the early 2010s, nothing ever came from it. There’s an interesting reason for that. While the game was in mid-development, Disney acquired LucasArts. As a result of the acquisition, the game trilogy never got a proper ending. That’s because when Disney came, they ordered all projects to be stopped and started again. However, some of them never got a new start.

Are things about to change?

Rumors of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 3 are flying around. It all started with Daniel Richman who is known for his Disney predictions. He told his patreons that a third part of the game is potentially back in development. Still, it is unclear whether this game will be canon or not.

Due to the big success of the first two games, a third following would be logical. If Lucasarts was still in charge, we’d see the third game along with others by now. Unfortunately, when Disney came along, a lot of the stuff that was in development stopped. Maybe that was for the better. Lucasarts, back in the day, used to collab with a lot of companies on their games. This brought competition which ensured that the games would be good. Major corporations like Electronic Arts is that they have little to no competition, which leads to them going just after the money.

How big is the hope?

Rumors like this need to be taken with a grain of salt. Disney’s contract with Electronic Arts will expire in the next couple of years. Them deciding to extend it seems kind of unlikely. Maybe with a new company in charge of making Star Wars games, we will get to see Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 3. Until then, we can only wait for official announcements.

Fake gameplay footage of Cyberpunk 2077

Ever since CD Projekt released its first teaser trailer for Cyberpunk, everyone was pumped. The game saw huge hype around it. After around 5 years, the company uploaded 40 minutes of official gameplay. The controversy though is that it was completely fake. A lot of fans thought of the video as something that is too good to be true. That was unfortunately the case. For ‘’ work in progress,’’ it seemed perfect and visually appealing. People really thought that this game would be the best game ever. Only to encounter a game filled with bugs and glitches that look like this:

Overrated garbage

The marketing team had players believe that every little choice you make in the game will have an impact on your storyline and that no players will be the same as you due to there being plenty of choices. It was supposed to be an RPG in the true sense. This did not happen. In fact, CD Projekt Red was so embarrassed that they changed the Cyberpunk Twitter bio from ‘’RPG’’ to ‘’Open world action game’’.
At certain points in the story, the game makes it seem as If the choice you make will make a lasting difference.

During the mission with Meredith Stout, she gives you a chip. You then give it to Royce. It Turns out that the chip was bugged and you end up having an all-out brawl. Outside the building, she Is waiting and tells you that she’d like to do business with you. The only business that you can do with Meredith, after that, is to make love.
If you have chosen the latter option and decided to wipe out the virus before giving it – The same thing happens. You have a fight and again she waits for you with the same option. Countless examples of such scenarios exist in the game and are one of the reasons it shouldn’t be considered an RPG.

Sony removing Cyberpunk 2077

An event that shocked everybody is when Sony Entertainment decided to remove the game completely and give out refunds to everyone who purchased it. Even though Cyberpunk was extremely bad – Featuring many bugs and glitches along with promises that were not fulfilled, no one expected Sony to make such a drastic decision.

In conclusion

Cyberpunk 2077 had so much potential and so much hype built around it. Just imagine what this game could have done if it actually provided and came through with its promises. It could have impacted not just the RPG sector of gaming, but the whole gaming industry as well. Unfortunately, though, the game plummeted.

Gameplay 

Journey brings elegance in which you explore the landscape. Along with elegance, a sense of fluidity is present in the movement of your character that makes it mesmerizing and enjoyable to play. Monotone and sluggish walks through the desert are intercut with sudden bursts of freedom where you can float through the air or glide down sand dunes. Later on, the player’s scarf is extended which leads to complete freedom of flying.  

However, the game knows when to restrict you as well. In the underground chapter where you meet the dragon, you will feel sort of anxious. That is not just because you’re meeting the enemy. In that chapter, the movement is very limited with no flying, which gives of the feeling of being stuck or falling behind. The restriction of movement beautifully accentuates the vulnerability you feel while the monster roams around searching for you. 

Journey visuals 

The game is beautiful and majestic. The stunning visuals are supposed to evoke an emotional response in you. It does so by enhancing every movement and aspect of the game. For example, in the first chapters, your scarf moving with the wind evokes a feeling of freedom. On the other hand, in the final chapter, it feels like a burden that is pulling you behind. Another great example of cleverly used visuals is the color red. Objects that you can interact with and your own character is red. The game teaches you this association early on, so whenever you enter a new area you know what you need to do. 

Journey is often criticized for its visuals. Critics say that the stunning visuals are there to distract the players from lack of substance and plot. However, they are there to heighten the emotional impact of your journey, to compliment and accentuate every other aspect of the game in a beautiful way. 

Music in Journey 

As most would agree, this game has an amazing soundtrack. The main theme is beautiful and memorable and on the whole, the game has a wonderfully arranged and composed score. The score manages to encapsulate the sense of spiritual or ancient power that has an element of tragedy to it. 

Closing 

Journey is a whole lot different than most of the video games on the market. How many videogames that don’t feature challenge or difficulty in their core can you think of? I bet it is not that many. What is also fascinating about Journey is that your character’s abilities are stripped to the bare minimum. In today’s age, where our brains work overtime during gaming, we tend to be preoccupied with playing the game, rather than experiencing it. Journey, while pushing videogaming boundaries, delivers a meaningful and enriching game with emotional investment while not focusing on the plot or characters.

Krunker.io is famous for its fast-paced gameplay. The graphics are stylized and simple. It gives the game a good appearance without giving your PC much work. The 14 character classes in Krunker all have different characteristics that make each class balanced, but unique.
