Ubisoft’s producer on the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake has thrown cold water on one of the community’s biggest fears: that the new edition would be neutered for a wider audience and the violence sold back as paid DLC. The answer is unambiguous — the blood stays in, and it stays free. For Ubisoft, a publisher fighting for relevance and trust, the statement is more than a content note; it’s a brand promise the company desperately needs to keep.

What Happened

In a recent press cycle, the producer behind the Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag remake confirmed two things directly to fans worried about a watered-down version of the 2013 pirate classic. First, the game’s signature combat brutality — the bloody cutlass kills, the hidden-blade assassinations, the on-screen carnage that helped define Edward Kenway’s swashbuckling tone — will remain part of the base experience. Second, none of that gore will be locked behind a separate paid DLC pack or microtransaction. The reassurance comes after a string of recent remakes and remasters across the industry that have been criticised for tonal softening, removed content, or for splitting features across paid editions. Black Flag is one of the most beloved entries in the Assassin’s Creed catalogue, and the community has been on high alert since the remake was first announced.

Industry Impact

Ubisoft is in a delicate position in 2026. The publisher has weathered repeated PR storms over launches, monetization, and creative direction, and Black Flag’s remake represents a chance to rebuild goodwill with a fan base that still remembers the company’s golden run. Promising creative integrity over upsell is a notable shift from the playbook the industry has drifted toward. Across major publishers, content gating, premium editions, and feature paywalls have become the default. Ubisoft choosing to keep something as fundamental as the game’s tone in the base product sends a signal — both to consumers and to investors — that brand trust is being prioritized over short-term revenue extraction. If the Black Flag remake lands well, it could become a template: remasters and remakes that sell on quality and faithfulness rather than slicing the experience into tiers.

The Bigger Picture

There’s an entrepreneurship lesson hiding inside this content note: when a brand has lost trust, the fastest way back is generosity, not cleverness. Ubisoft could have monetized gore. It has, on previous projects, monetized far less. Choosing not to is a deliberate decision that costs short-term revenue and buys long-term goodwill. For founders and product leaders in tech, media, and consumer goods, the principle scales. The instinct to extract every dollar from a redesign, relaunch, or feature update often backfires when the audience already feels squeezed. Sometimes the strongest growth move is the boring one: ship the full product, charge a fair price, and let the quality of the work do the marketing.

Ubisoft has set the bar publicly. Now the studio has to ship a remake worthy of that promise — and the industry will be watching whether honesty about content gating becomes a trend or a one-off.

Star Wars Outlaws is an upcoming game from Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment that features a heist, but this time, it doesn’t involve Han Solo and Chewbacca. The game offers an open-world adventure across multiple planets all leading up to a major job.

Although Outlaws moves away from the iconic intergalactic smuggler, it introduces a new quirky duo to the Star Wars universe: Kay Vess and Nix. These characters are entirely fresh to the Star Wars franchise, adding a new dynamic to the game’s narrative. As information on the various Star Wars projects can get complex due to the Expanded Universe and canon, this game stands out with its distinct characters and setting.

The game’s new moon setting, Toshara, is an exciting addition that promises unique and diverse gameplay. As the development progresses, more details about Star Wars Outlaws and its characters will likely be revealed.

Release date of Star Wars Outlaws

Ubisoft set the Star Wars Outlaws release date in 2024. Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment revealed the game during the 2023 Summer of Gaming. However, the exact release date remains unspecified. Codenamed “Project Helix,” the game was initially planned for a March 2024 release, falling within that fiscal year. However, due to the ambitious nature of the project, sources are uncertain about meeting that timeline, and the game might instead launch sometime between April 2024 and March 2025.

Star Wars Outlaws is confirmed to be released on PC, though no official word has been given regarding third-party storefronts like Steam or the Epic Games Store. Ubisoft has historically favored its own launcher, Ubisoft Connect, for PC releases. As the release date approaches, more specific information about the launch window and supported platforms is expected to be provided by Ubisoft.

Open world

In a recent interview with IGN, the creative director Julian Gerighty enthusiastically revealed exciting details about ‘Star Wars Outlaws,’ an upcoming open-world game. Gerighty emphasized that this game would mark the first-ever Star Wars open-world experience, immersing players in a scoundrel adventure of epic proportions.

The development team aimed to capture the essence of childhood dreams with ‘Star Wars Outlaws,’ creating a gaming journey that Star Wars fans have longed for. Players will have the freedom to explore a vast and immersive galaxy, traversing different planets, systems, and deep-space landscapes. Iconic speeders and spaceships will be at the players’ disposal, allowing for exciting and varied means of travel. Alternatively, players can opt for a more grounded approach and explore on foot.

Gameplay in Star Wars Outlaws

Recent gameplay footage demos showcased the dynamic navigation system within the game’s vast universe. Players will experience the seamless teamwork of the main characters, Kay and Nix, as they skillfully tackle obstacles, demonstrating their unique abilities in firefights and stealth missions. Kay wields her blaster with finesse, engaging in intense battles, while Nix operates covertly, unlocking paths and evading dangerous encounters.

Ubisoft’s preview footage unveils several exciting gameplay features, including the ability to seamlessly pivot between third-person shooting and stealth mechanics. Nix will play a crucial role in both battles and puzzle-solving, aiding in uncovering hidden secrets throughout the journey.

To customize the gameplay experience further, you can equip Kay’s blaster with upgradeable modules, offering tactical versatility in combat situations. Additionally, Kay possesses various abilities and equipment that players can utilize strategically.

Exploring the galaxy becomes a thrilling adventure with a wide range of vehicles at your disposal. This includes everything from nimble Speeders to powerful spaceships. Every decision you make as Kay holds weight, impacting your standing in the world. The game’s wanted system dynamically influences the Empire’s aggression towards Kay, adding a layer of consequence to your actions.

Rough story outline

In the Imperial Era, where the grip of the Empire tightens its hold on the galaxy, a new story unfolds. Amidst the ongoing conflict between the Sith regime and the Rebel forces, smaller syndicates seize the opportunity to rise to power, establishing control over their own corners of the underworld.

The narrative centers around a daring thief named Kay Vess, who is accompanied by her lizard companion, Nix. Together, they embark on daring heists, navigating the dangerous world of crime and deception. However, the stakes are high as a considerable bounty hangs over Kay’s head.

Conclusion about Star Wars Outlaws

Everyone is looking forward to the first-ever open-world Star Wars experience. However, they haven’t published much information. And also, the development team is clearly facing some troubles considering they pushed back the launch. But on the bright side, it shows that they dearly care about the launch. We are sure they want to deliver the best product possible.

The new game The Division: Heartland is a series of Division games that takes place in the world of Tom Clancy. Red Storm Entertainment, the studio behind the game, is developing in this franchise for the first time.

According to the developers of this company, support for The Division 2 continues and a mobile game called The Division Resurgence is also under development; By developing this game and another game of the Division series for the mobile platform, Ubisoft is trying to attract more audiences for this game series.

Information Available from this Game

In Ubisoft’s online event, it was said that in Heartland, players will once again take on the role of one of The Division’s agents, this time going to a small town in the western states to protect the citizens from an invading threat. Furthermore, at the end of this section, the dedicated website of Division Heartland invited players to participate in the testing phase of the game.

There are two main parts to Division Heartland: the first is Storm Operations, which is the PvPvE mode. The mode pits 45 players against other players and rogue agents controlled by Vultures and requires them to escape the deadly virus. Excursions, the second part, puts players on PvE missions. In this mode, players must collect resources, activate sirens, and prepare the battlefield Excursion Operations.

Heartland is a completely independent game from the world of The Division, which is based on the core mechanics of this franchise; That means you are still dealing with a third-person shooter in the style of survival, which can play single-player and multiplayer.

Release date and Available Platforms

Ubisoft has announced that The Division Heartland will release in April 2023, but it has not yet confirmed the exact date. Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC will all be able to play this game.

Ubisoft plans to pay tribute to the roots of the series with Assassins. It was one of the main wishes of long-time fans of the series, who could never connect with the new trilogy, Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla.

The French company finally responded to their request by introducing Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Ubisoft announced the title after its information was leaked, releasing a trailer and information about it during the Ubisoft Forward conference. Here we will share all that we have learned about Mirage so far and see whether this title is exactly what Assassin fans are looking for.

It is an action-adventure game with a focus on stealth. Although its map is smaller than the new trilogy; the audience is dealing with a more dynamic environment filled with various NPCs. That is, almost similar to what we saw in Unity.

Mechanics

Many role-playing mechanics have been removed from this version, and the game follows a much more linear approach than the likes of Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla. Instead, Parkour, stealth, and assassination of important characters, all three of which were the main features of the classic Assassin’s Creed gameplay, are present in Mirage. Of course, Ubisoft has made changes to this formula. It has inherited a part from all essences released so far, according to the director of Mirage. Due to the game’s focus on stealth, the developers have designed new tools and weapons for Basim (the main character). One of them is mine detection, which causes the formation of a red cloud so that Basim can quickly escape from danger when necessary.

In addition, Baghdad’s design was based on Parkour, allowing Basim to quickly jump from one roof to another and pass the obstacles. Interestingly, Ubisoft has announced that it has increased the speed of Parkour even compared to the classic versions so that users can feel agile when moving in the high areas of the city. In addition to recreating classic movements and animations, the creators have also designed new Parkour moves for Basim.

The assassination of Negative Characters

Finally, we come to the assassination of negative characters. The Ubisoft Bordeaux team has focused a lot on this section and has provided the audience with new possibilities for this work.

The creators call these missions Black Box missions. You can assassinate your targets in different ways. If you are one of the old fans of this series, you are familiar with these types of missions.

Interestingly, the production team has designed a special tool to assassinate game characters. Another important feature added to this section is the ability to kill multiple targets at the same time, which has returned to this issue from the classic versions, although the creators of Mirage emphasized that this feature will be more like Mark and Execute in Splinter Cell Conviction.

Basim Ibn Ishaq

The game’s main character is Basim Ibn Ishaq, whom the audience of the Assassins series met for the first time in Valhalla. Basim was one of the most influential characters in Valhalla, but the story of Mirage takes place in the ninth century in 861 AD, about 11 to 17 years before the events we saw in Valhalla. Of course, the distance between the two parts is not clear. Valhalla took place between 872 and 878 AD. The producers have even referred to Mirage as a “Coming of Age” story as it follows Basim’s journey across several years. According to Ubisoft, we will witness Basim’s character transformation in this game and how he joins the Assassins.

According to Mirage Narrative Director Sarah Beaulieu, the game shows how the young and raw Basim transforms from a street thief to a master assassin. Throughout the game, we also learn more about The Hidden One’s cult, led by Aya and Bayek that was established in Assassin’s Creed Origins.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage set in Iraq

According to Jean-Luc Sala, the artistic director of Mirage, Baghdad was one of the most advanced cities in the world in the 9th century, a city that was the origin of modern science, art, commerce, and innovation.

The production team used many historical texts and related documentaries to design Baghdad as best as possible. To better understand this city during that period, they studied other important Iraqi cities of that period such as Samarra. There are four parts of Baghdad in Mirage. According to historical documents, Karkh was established 11 years after the formation of Baghdad and is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Baghdad. The other part is the “Round city of Baghdad”, considered a green place and the Abbas Caliphate’s main seat.

In addition to the meticulously designed locations, Sala promises that the city will be extremely busy and crowded. In this regard, Sala says, “The residents of the city react to your every move.” In this case, we can expect Baghdad similar to Paris Assassins Creed Unity.

Release Date and Platforms

PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X players will be able to play Assassin’s Creed Mirage in 2023. PC users can also purchase this version through the Ubisoft or Epic Store. This game is available to the audience in three different editions. The normal version is 50 dollars and is even 10 dollars below the price of 8th-generation games. The Deluxe Edition version includes the story DLC of 40 Thieves of Baghdad. According to the creators, they made this DLC inspired by Prince of Persia. Finally, the limited Collector’s Case, in addition to the main game and its DLC, includes a 32 cm figure of Basim, a physical map of Baghdad, and an excellent steel book.

Conclusion

Assassin’s creed Mirage includes many features that fans of the classic versions of the Assassins series have been waiting for. We also hope that this game is exactly what fans of the classic series have come to expect.

In 2019, I was waiting for the Rainbow Six Quarantine because of my interest in Zombie Shooters and the Rainbow Six Siege Outbreak event. However, even after years and the long silence of the production team, it became clear that there is a problem in the process of making this title.

Finally, Ubisoft announced that the game is on its way and we are now seeing its release. They changed the name of the game to Rainbow Six Extraction and the overall direction of the title. Note that this game has nothing to do with Tom Clancy’s novels, but is an original story from Ubisoft in the Rainbow Six universe.

R6 extraction Story

This version is a sequel to the Outbreak event and shows that the Chimera Parasite has grown, creating Archaeans and invading various American cities and regions, including San Francisco and New York. The Rainbow team has now set up a new branch called React. They are meant to specifically combat this great threat, as well as move the team’s command and research center on a giant ship called the Pioneer.

We see the return of many Rainbow Six Siege characters and operators. Some of them include Ash, Mira, and Thermite. Each plays their own role in the behind-the-scenes story. Also, they are receiving a large number of new voice lines.

It is not just that there are no new operators in the game, and only a handful of previous operators returned, but they have little innovation as well. They still include their former features and capabilities. Except for a few new sentences and commands, they do not even benefit from the new sound, and most of the time they express their sentences and commands as Rainbow Six Siege.

In terms of design, it can be said that except for changing the color of the operators’ uniforms, almost no other changes have been made. Secondly, the game has many of the weapons from the previous versions. To players who have played Siege before, the new game has less appeal and variety.

R6 extraction. Chapters

Extraction now offers four different chapters: New York, San Francisco, Alaska, and Truth or Conclusion. Each of them has three different maps. By entering each of these chapters you will be able to play all of the maps and experience the game as a Solo or Co-Op.

The animations, weapons, and gameplay, in general, follow the same Rainbow Six Siege format. However, new and exciting mechanized mechanics have been added to make the gameplay cycle more engaging and also focus more on performance.

Steps, Loadouts, Objectives

First, you need to select your operator and create your own loadout. As I said above, operators have the same capabilities as before. So, if you played Siege before, you will be familiar with them. The construction of weaponry and load-outs are the same too and there has been no innovation in it. The creators haven’t even bothered to add new attachments to this game. In this part, this title is exactly the same as its previous version.

When you select the operator you want and enter the steps, the game will give you three different Objectives. Each of them will earn you a certain amount of XP- Then, it allows you to perform all three objectives with the same amount of XP you earned – the so-called Extract.

Every objective individually requires its own strategy, such as stealth, and the degree of difficulty acts as a complement to this. As the level of difficulty increases, your team needs a more logical strategy and more concentration.

I should also mention that you can have a more enjoyable experience while doing Objectives by using the right gadgets and operators. This section has a good variety and also gives more fun to the gameplay cycle and stages of this title.

Progression System and Operators

I talked a little bit about the Progression system above and now I will go into it a little deeper. You need XP to reach higher milestones in order to advance and unlock chapters, operators, and gadgets. You can upgrade your favorite operator’s level by playing the game and gaining XP. When you level up, you will also get better perks or abilities.

You can also see the rewards for each via the Progression menu. These rewards include skins, charms, and tokens that you can use to unlock new gadgets in the Tech menu. As I mentioned above, these gadgets can help you a lot in performing various operations. They also add to the diversity of the game

Let’s talk a little bit about operators and their mechanisms. You can access your operators through the Operators menu. In this section, you can create loads, change the cover, view the health status and role of the operators. Personalization in this section is not interesting and does not have much appeal and variety in the field of Cosmetics.

You can open different weapons for your operators by raising their level. In the Loadout section of this game, there have been almost no innovations or changes. Therefore, the available features are similar to the Siege version.

MIA Mechanism

One of the mechanisms that Ubisoft strongly emphasized in advertising the game was the possibility of operators becoming MIA during the process. I must say that this is a very interesting element of the game. Your operator will disappear if the MIA or so-called health bar has expired during the operation. In this case, the operator enters the Stasis mode and a paste called Stasis Foam wraps around him, preventing the Archaeans from accessing him.

After that, your operation will end and you will receive your XP according to the Objectives you have completed. In this case, your operator will enter MIA mode and will no longer be selectable. The way to bring him back is to return to the same map where you lost him. Returning to that map, one of your three Objectives becomes a rescue operation for that operator.

This mechanism not only adds a bit of reality to the gameplay but is also one of the most attractive and best elements of this title. Your operator suffers a lot of injuries during the operation and his health condition is weak.

Enemies, maps, and their design

If you played the Outbreak event, you will definitely remember the very good design of the environment and its enemies. Outbreak could effectively give the player the feel of an apocalyptic scenario, and the design of the enemies was a perfect complement to that.

But these properties unfortunately do not apply to Extraction. Despite their acceptable variety in performance, their appearance is by no means awesome. Also, there are no different colors or coatings making them generally gray. So, the enemies become boring and monotonous after a few hours of playing.

The poor and boring design of the enemies also damages the environment and the overall appearance of the maps. There are currently about 12 playable maps in the title, each with a variety of environments and sections, and are overall well-designed. However, the gray color of the enemies, not only doesn’t help to instill a sense of fear, but also It also makes the maps feel lifeless.

Gameplay, gunplay, and graphics

As I mentioned earlier in this review, the gameplay and gunplay have not changed much and this isn’t acceptable. The gameplay of this title is still the same as the gameplay of its previous version, Rainbow Six Siege, which was released about seven years ago, and only some new items such as Takedowns have been added.

Finally, if you are one of the people who have enjoyed the title Rainbow Six Siege and you are also interested in this category of PVE titles, this title will probably be a very good option for you and you can spend happy hours with your friends or even alone in it. But, if you aren’t a fan of Siege and its gameplay, even if you enjoy Zombie Shooter games, then this title won’t give you an enjoyable experience, so I suggest that you consider other options.

Assassin’s Creed is a franchise featuring action-adventure stealth games published by Ubisoft. Its compelling main characters and world-class parkour along with great storytelling have made them a big part of the gaming industry. Almost every ‘’favorite games’’ list includes one of the parts of the franchise. With many of us having grown up along with the Assassin’s Creed games, we have decided to do a ranking. Without further ado, let’s get into it:

12. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Odyssey is a game set in ancient Greece. Many fans of the franchise dislike it the most. It distanced itself from all of the things that made Assassin’s Creed popular. However, Odyssey isn’t even good on its own. It’s characterized as an RPG, but, even on its best days, it’s a pseudo-RPG. At the time of it coming out, people were saying that Odyssey is going to be the next Witcher 3. This would turn out to be simply false, as Odyssey has a bad narrative that doesn’t fit in with the Assassin’s Creed lore. The only good thing about this game is its visuals

11. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate

Syndicate is an Assassin’s Creed game set in 19th Century London. It tends to rank higher on tier lists. However, part of the reason why is that it came out after Unity and Unity was a complete mess. The narrative and the overall design of the game were poorly made. The movement of the two main characters is very restricted which just doesn’t feel right for an Assassin’s Creed game. Historical figures are treated like Celebrities with their pop-up cards and animation. The only thing good about Syndicate was its strong emotional moments, such as Desmond’s friend grieving.

10. Assassin’s Creed Rogue

Despite many fans seeming to think that Rogue is underrated, the game is poorly made. Ubisoft scattered around a lot of collectibles as a way to compensate for the lack of content. The game follows the Knights Templar and the Assassins. However, there’s really not much difference between them. Both groups are secretive and have little care for innocent lives. The narrative is insultingly bad. This was simply a cash-in after Black Flag which was an amazing game. Rogue, however, is a forgetful and shallow experience

9. Assassin’s Creed Unity

Back when it first came out in 2014, no one liked Unity – and for a good reason. Nowadays, feelings have changed. Newer titles of the franchise distanced themselves from what Assassin’s Creed used to be. Unity, on paper at least, does everything that the fans want it to do. The idea of the game was good, but not the execution. Alongside the messy narrative, it is filled with bugs and glitches. Maybe a year or two of longer development would have made it the best Assassin’s Creed game ever.

8. Assassin’s Creed 3

This game was supposed to be the lead in quality after Assassin’s Creed 1. However, that simply did not happen. The movement was really dumbed down because everything was automated and you had far less control. AC 3 feels disconnected from the rest of the games. The dialogue doesn’t feel as if real people are talking. The main character, Connor, doesn’t develop at all. It’s frustrating how he goes from a naive child to a naive adult, killing Templars without even questioning why.

7. Assassin’s Creed Origins

Origins is an AC game set in Egypt. The structuring is a bit mismanaged. The main issue is that the player has to do a lot of side quests before actually progressing in the main storyline. Bayek, the main character, is done really well. He goes through a range of emotions that make him connect to the player. The world of the game is beautiful. Even though the locations are dotted on the map, the act of exploration is still enjoyable.

6. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

After Origins and Odyssey, the new game tried to please both new fans of the AC content and the old-school crew. That created a trap. Ubisoft tried so hard to please everybody, while in some instances it turned out to please nobody. Despite all the issues that come with Valhalla, it is still a great game. The Viking fantasy kind of overthrows the Assassin’s fantasy. Even though it allows for you to use stealth and a hood, the context in which you use them is rather pointless.

5. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag

The story of Black Flag starts out with an outsider, which the story later on molds into an Assassin. This game is the first one after AC 1 that deals with Assassin’s Creed as the focal point of the game. It follows the main character’s search for purpose. During his search, he pushed a lot of people away. Only to later realize that those people are the true purpose. Not gold or glory, but relationships he had. The open world is big and vast, allowing for great exploitation.

4. Assassin’s Creed 1

Assassin’s Creed One is a very niche title. It didn’t try to appeal to the mainstream. That’s what made this game so great. The game is very linear. It uses the open world as a sort of background. With each new assassination, you are tossed into a new district, so there’s a lot of things to see. With beggars and other people in the street, environmental storytelling plays a big part. It is safe to say that it largely plays into the main storytelling.

3. Assassin’s Creed 2

The main issue with AC 2 is that the DLC’s really drag down the pace of the gameplay. However, the game is a step up from AC 1. It uses the open world in an even more meaningful way. AC 2 not only continues the modern life story but the ancestorial one as well. We learn more about the creator of lots of assassination techniques. The game also introduces Ezio – a fan-favorite character.

2. Assassin’s Creed Revelations

Revelations has the greatest storytelling in the entire franchise. The only bad thing about it is a bit of iffy pacing and structure. The missions sometimes don’t flow naturally. One another thing is that the side content lacks in comparison to Brotherhood.

1. Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood

AC Brotherhood is a masterpiece. It is not just a sequel to Ezio, but it also pushes the entire franchise forward. The open-world has never been more important to the story being told. Here we really see all of the layers that make up Ezio. His story is told very subtly but in a good way. His relationships with friends and allies are tested. The game focuses equally on the main story, side quests, and the open world that it created the perfectly balanced Assassin’s Creed game.
