Epic Games rolled out Fortnite’s first batch of officially partnered Star Wars titles built in Unreal Editor for Fortnite, and the verdict is not flattering. Hands-on impressions across the new modes describe shallow gameplay loops, derivative shooter mechanics, and a noticeable gap between the marketing pitch and what UEFN can actually deliver right now. For a launch designed to prove that creator-built Fortnite worlds can carry blockbuster IP, this rollout looks more like a stress test than a showcase.

What’s Actually Live, And Why It Disappoints

The new Star Wars partnered modes drop into Fortnite as standalone playable experiences, ranging from squad-based shooter takes to lightsaber-flavored survival rounds. Players going hands-on report that the modes feel competent in places but rarely rise above the bar set by community-built UEFN islands. The combat lacks the snap of Fortnite’s main battle royale, the AI is rough around the edges, and the level design feels more like a tech demo than a polished commercial product. For a partnership leaning on one of entertainment’s most valuable licenses, the production polish does not come close to what Star Wars fans expect from Respawn, EA Motive, or even mid-budget licensed games of the past decade. The takeaway from playtime is consistent: there is potential here, but the launch lineup is not yet making the case that UEFN can deliver Star Wars at AAA quality.

The UEFN Strategy Has A Credibility Problem

Epic Games has spent years pitching Unreal Editor for Fortnite as the future of game development — a creator-driven platform where studios and individual developers alike can ship paid experiences inside Fortnite’s massive existing player base. The economic case is real: bypass storefront cuts, ride engagement instead of building it, and tap into a built-in payment system. But the platform’s credibility depends on lighthouse partners landing well. A Star Wars launch that underwhelms makes the next pitch deck harder. Major IP holders and publishers evaluating UEFN as a distribution play will see this rollout and ask whether the runtime can actually carry their brand. Smaller creators may benefit from a permissive economic model, but tentpole partners need showcase-quality infrastructure, and right now the gap between Epic’s promise and the player experience is wider than the company would like.

What This Means For Creator-Platform Economics

The bigger story is what this says about creator-platform economics in 2026. Roblox has built a multi-billion-dollar developer ecosystem on the back of accessible tooling and aggressive payouts. Fortnite is trying to push into the same territory with stronger production quality, stronger IP partnerships, and a more mature audience. The Star Wars partnered modes are a test run for whether premium IP can coexist with creator-economy economics. If Epic can iterate quickly — better content discovery, stronger production support, polished tools for licensed brands — the strategy still works. If the early showcases keep landing flat, established publishers will hesitate to commit IP, and the creator economy in Fortnite stays stuck at the indie tier. That is the inflection point this launch is sitting on.

The Star Wars rollout is not the end of UEFN, but it is a public reminder that platform economics only work when the platform can actually deliver. Epic has the resources to course-correct, and the next round of partner content will tell the real story. For now, fans hoping for a Star Wars showcase that rivals proper licensed games will need to keep waiting.

Ahsoka is a rather peculiar project in the Star Wars franchise. It is an American miniseries created by Dave Filioni and released in August of 2023. While it’s marketed as a spin-off of the popular Disney+ series The Mandalorian (2019-), it’s actually a continuation of the animated show Star Wars Rebels (2014-2018), which in turn was a follow-up to Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2002-2020). The latter began as a theatrical feature film in 2008.

Where are you supposed to start with Ahsoka?

This complex lineage might leave casual viewers, like your girlfriend, utterly baffled. We can thank the expectation that they’ve watched 208 episodes of television. A fact conveniently omitted from most of the marketing.

To its credit, Ahsoka isn’t entirely impenetrable for those who haven’t delved deep into the lore. A basic understanding of the titular character and her background helps, and the show’s main storyline isn’t overly convoluted. The real issue, however, lies in Ahsoka’s apparent lack of interest in forging emotional connections with its audience. Instead, it relies heavily on pre-existing connections from prior series. None of the characters in the show’s eight episodes are particularly engaging on their own, assuming that viewers already care about them based on their prior appearances.

Is Star Wars ever going to adapt to a wider audience?

In this day and age, a lot of companies are striving to reach the broadest audience possible. However, in the case of Star Wars, it seems to be going the other way. Also, the fans seem to like it and continually shun people getting into the franchise who haven’t watched previous works. If the future of the franchise continues to build on the foundation of a long-running cartoon, it’s uncertain whether it will remain accessible to the broader audience that initially embraced The Mandalorian’s first season.

Characters in Ahsoka

Ahsoka, as a show, falls remarkably short of delivering a fulfilling viewing experience. Actress Rosario Dawson takes on the role of the former Jedi. Although she certainly embodies the character visually, she lacks the screen presence or compelling depth needed to engage the audience. The series often presents her as a lifeless action figure, alluding to her past with mumblings about her former master, Anakin Skywalker (played by Hayden Christensen). However, merely showcasing a recognizable character’s face doesn’t suffice for quality television or storytelling. Dawson’s portrayal comes across as dull, devoid of distinct personality traits or visual flair. At times, she participates in entire action sequences with uncreative lightsaber swings while remaining motionless.

The supporting cast consists of characters borrowed from other Star Wars shows, leading to a reliance on prior media for any meaningful connection to them. Unfortunately, in Ahsoka’s eight episodes, these characters receive limited exploration and remain uninteresting. They seem like mere pawns in yet another generic Star Wars narrative that struggles to distinguish itself from its predecessors. While the series features familiar Star Wars symbols, it fails to introduce anything new to set these episodes apart from the multitude of others consumed over the years.

Cinematography and Television

Adding to the disappointment is the lackluster visual presentation of the series. Transitioning from animation to live-action is no easy feat. Ahsoka fails to establish a distinctive visual identity, resulting in a bland and uninspiring look. While the makeup and costumes are undoubtedly impressive, the cinematography fails to showcase them in a way that makes them genuinely captivating. Instead, many scenes appear as a mishmash of unexciting grey tones. Occasionally, the series introduces intriguing ideas, such as the inclusion of zombie stormtroopers, but the direction lacks the necessary personality and energy to transform these concepts into thrilling on-screen moments, reducing them to potentially enjoyable ideas that fall flat due to lackluster execution.

Why are Ahsoka reviews bad?

You might be reading this review and wondering why the criticisms seem so severe. After all, continuing storylines from previous installments is a common practice in serialized storytelling. That’s a valid point, to a certain extent. There’s nothing inherently wrong with Ahsoka wanting to build upon what Rebels left unfinished. However, it’s the way it approaches this task that’s frustrating. The series conceals its true intentions beneath the guise of being another Mandalorian spin-off, relying on the audience’s recognition of past characters and surprise cameos instead of taking a moment to reflect on what it has to offer and why it deserves to stand on its own. Ahsoka isn’t devoid of purpose, but it consistently feels misguided, leaving one to question why they didn’t simply create another season of Rebels instead.

Star Wars Outlaws is an upcoming game from Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment that features a heist, but this time, it doesn’t involve Han Solo and Chewbacca. The game offers an open-world adventure across multiple planets all leading up to a major job.

Although Outlaws moves away from the iconic intergalactic smuggler, it introduces a new quirky duo to the Star Wars universe: Kay Vess and Nix. These characters are entirely fresh to the Star Wars franchise, adding a new dynamic to the game’s narrative. As information on the various Star Wars projects can get complex due to the Expanded Universe and canon, this game stands out with its distinct characters and setting.

The game’s new moon setting, Toshara, is an exciting addition that promises unique and diverse gameplay. As the development progresses, more details about Star Wars Outlaws and its characters will likely be revealed.

Release date of Star Wars Outlaws

Ubisoft set the Star Wars Outlaws release date in 2024. Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment revealed the game during the 2023 Summer of Gaming. However, the exact release date remains unspecified. Codenamed “Project Helix,” the game was initially planned for a March 2024 release, falling within that fiscal year. However, due to the ambitious nature of the project, sources are uncertain about meeting that timeline, and the game might instead launch sometime between April 2024 and March 2025.

Star Wars Outlaws is confirmed to be released on PC, though no official word has been given regarding third-party storefronts like Steam or the Epic Games Store. Ubisoft has historically favored its own launcher, Ubisoft Connect, for PC releases. As the release date approaches, more specific information about the launch window and supported platforms is expected to be provided by Ubisoft.

Open world

In a recent interview with IGN, the creative director Julian Gerighty enthusiastically revealed exciting details about ‘Star Wars Outlaws,’ an upcoming open-world game. Gerighty emphasized that this game would mark the first-ever Star Wars open-world experience, immersing players in a scoundrel adventure of epic proportions.

The development team aimed to capture the essence of childhood dreams with ‘Star Wars Outlaws,’ creating a gaming journey that Star Wars fans have longed for. Players will have the freedom to explore a vast and immersive galaxy, traversing different planets, systems, and deep-space landscapes. Iconic speeders and spaceships will be at the players’ disposal, allowing for exciting and varied means of travel. Alternatively, players can opt for a more grounded approach and explore on foot.

Gameplay in Star Wars Outlaws

Recent gameplay footage demos showcased the dynamic navigation system within the game’s vast universe. Players will experience the seamless teamwork of the main characters, Kay and Nix, as they skillfully tackle obstacles, demonstrating their unique abilities in firefights and stealth missions. Kay wields her blaster with finesse, engaging in intense battles, while Nix operates covertly, unlocking paths and evading dangerous encounters.

Ubisoft’s preview footage unveils several exciting gameplay features, including the ability to seamlessly pivot between third-person shooting and stealth mechanics. Nix will play a crucial role in both battles and puzzle-solving, aiding in uncovering hidden secrets throughout the journey.

To customize the gameplay experience further, you can equip Kay’s blaster with upgradeable modules, offering tactical versatility in combat situations. Additionally, Kay possesses various abilities and equipment that players can utilize strategically.

Exploring the galaxy becomes a thrilling adventure with a wide range of vehicles at your disposal. This includes everything from nimble Speeders to powerful spaceships. Every decision you make as Kay holds weight, impacting your standing in the world. The game’s wanted system dynamically influences the Empire’s aggression towards Kay, adding a layer of consequence to your actions.

Rough story outline

In the Imperial Era, where the grip of the Empire tightens its hold on the galaxy, a new story unfolds. Amidst the ongoing conflict between the Sith regime and the Rebel forces, smaller syndicates seize the opportunity to rise to power, establishing control over their own corners of the underworld.

The narrative centers around a daring thief named Kay Vess, who is accompanied by her lizard companion, Nix. Together, they embark on daring heists, navigating the dangerous world of crime and deception. However, the stakes are high as a considerable bounty hangs over Kay’s head.

Conclusion about Star Wars Outlaws

Everyone is looking forward to the first-ever open-world Star Wars experience. However, they haven’t published much information. And also, the development team is clearly facing some troubles considering they pushed back the launch. But on the bright side, it shows that they dearly care about the launch. We are sure they want to deliver the best product possible.

Five years after the events of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor picks up. As one of the few remaining Jedi, Cal must constantly keep one step ahead of the Empire’s relentless pursuit.

Jedi: Survivor, created by the seasoned Respawn Entertainment team, will build on the exhilarating combat found in Jedi: Fallen Order as well as the legendary Star wars storylines, worlds, and characters.

Release date of Star wars Jedi: Survivor

The release date is somewhere in 2023. While Jedi: Survivor is progressing similarly to its predecessor, neither Respawn nor LucasFilm Games have officially announced a more precise release date. EA first unveiled Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order at Star Wars Celebration in 2018. It was then released in November 2019. It appears realistic to anticipate Jedi: Survivor 2, which the Apex Legend creator has been working on for three years, to release in Fall 2023.

The story

The Star Wars Jedi: Survivor plot starts up five years after Jedi: Fallen Order. To remind you, it ended with Cal Kestis forgoing the opportunity to revive the Jedi Order in order to protect children who are Force-sensitive from the Empire. As one of the last remaining Jedi in the galaxy, Cal must “do everything it takes to stay alive” in Jedi: Survivor. Respawn promises it will have a darker tone. This may entail “creating friendships with people that, in other times, may be deemed unpleasant,” the game’s director Stig Asmussen teases, further portraying the gloomy circumstances in which Cal and his allies find themselves.

The gameplay

Respawn hasn’t yet made any gameplay footage available to the public, but the company has talked about how it handles progression and combat. Respawn is “leveraging new technology” of the PS5 and Xbox Series X to “create more dynamic Jedi combat,” according to game director Stig Asmussen. Including that “Jedi: Survivor will add new and creative approaches to the series’ dynamic combat. Cal needs to develop his use of the Force and acquire new skills in order to survive.”

Will Star Wars Jedi: Survivor be next-gen only?

The next-gen exclusive game Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This means you cant use last-gen consoles, which is unfortunate for people who haven’t had the opportunity to upgrade yet. More and more next-gen-only games are appearing, such as Tekken 8 and Forspoken. Maybe it’s finally time to upgrade to a PC or console from the current generation.

Closing thoughts

Since there isn’t much information available about the game, it is hard to say anything. However, the way Cal’s story is going, we must say – it will certainly be very interesting. The only shame about this game is that it’s a next-gen exclusive which will make a lot of fans left out.

Rumors of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 3 are flying around. After the major success of the first two Force Unleashed games, are we finally going to see the third part of the trilogy?

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is an action-adventure game released in 2008. Originally, Lucasarts published it for PS2 and 3, Wii, and Xbox 360. The story acts as a bridge between Rebel Alliance and Galactic Civil War. An interesting thing about the game is that it brought a new character – Starkiller. He trained as a secret apprentice under Darth Vader. Despite being a bestseller (selling over 1 million copies in the month of the debut), the game ran into some criticism concerning all the technical issues that it faced.

Its sequel, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 was published in 2010. This game showed a more personal journey with the main character. Darth Vader tried to make a perfect clone of Starkiller, but things didn’t go as planned. The clone gained the man’s memories and realized he will be similarly betrayed. That’s when he escapes Vader and gets caught in the Galactic Civil War. This game, much like the previous one, faced some critics, including the short length of the game and an underwhelming story.

What happened to Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 3?

All though it was confirmed that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 3 was in development in the early 2010s, nothing ever came from it. There’s an interesting reason for that. While the game was in mid-development, Disney acquired LucasArts. As a result of the acquisition, the game trilogy never got a proper ending. That’s because when Disney came, they ordered all projects to be stopped and started again. However, some of them never got a new start.

Are things about to change?

Rumors of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 3 are flying around. It all started with Daniel Richman who is known for his Disney predictions. He told his patreons that a third part of the game is potentially back in development. Still, it is unclear whether this game will be canon or not.

Due to the big success of the first two games, a third following would be logical. If Lucasarts was still in charge, we’d see the third game along with others by now. Unfortunately, when Disney came along, a lot of the stuff that was in development stopped. Maybe that was for the better. Lucasarts, back in the day, used to collab with a lot of companies on their games. This brought competition which ensured that the games would be good. Major corporations like Electronic Arts is that they have little to no competition, which leads to them going just after the money.

How big is the hope?

Rumors like this need to be taken with a grain of salt. Disney’s contract with Electronic Arts will expire in the next couple of years. Them deciding to extend it seems kind of unlikely. Maybe with a new company in charge of making Star Wars games, we will get to see Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 3. Until then, we can only wait for official announcements.

Latest information and updates on the possible release of Fallen Order 2. Everything EA has hinted at so far and why we believe there will be a second instalment to Fallen Order. Rumoured plot and what the next game will be about.

The post Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 – Here’s what we know appeared first on Bizznerd.

EA has been hinting at Star Wars: Fallen Order 2 ever since the release of the first game. They have been teasing fans for well over a year (to annoy or create hype; we aren’t sure). Either way, Fallen Order 2 is a very anticipated game and the suspicion is that it will be released in the autumn of 2022. Although EA hasn’t confirmed anything about a sequel it’s quite obvious that there will be a sequel due to the popularity of the first game.

What can we expect from Star Wars: Fallen Order 2?

Although EA hasn’t necessarily confirmed nor denied a second game, they have said that they will “continue to invest in the Jedi: Fallen Order Franchise”. Take this with a pinch of salt. It’s safe to assume that there will indeed be a second (or even more) game(s). The way they worded this can be interpreted to mean that they will in fact continue to add more games after Fallen Order 2. It is also very likely that there will be a continuation to the story since at the end of the first game it asked “what’s next?”. If that isn’t a major hint to a second game, we don’t know what is.

Even after how well the first game did and how much people want another game, it seems like the second game will take a while to release. Although the timing is all speculation and hopefulness, we are almost 100% sure that it will happen in the near future. A developer from Respawn Entertainment has teased that they are working on Fallen Order 2. According to many other job listings and confirmations from others, we are sure EA will give fans a second game and will provide teasers/trailers before that.

Newest updates

EA has released an optimization update for Fallen Order in January of 2021. Some of the overall optimizations are as follows: Increased frame rate, improved dynamic resolution, and improved post-processing resolution. They have also released an announcement of the next-gen upgrade to Fallen Order since then. All this gives fans more hope for a second installment of the Fallen Order game. EA has been consistently making changes to the game to keep fans interested, possibly in hopes to keep Fallen Order relevant up until the release of the second game.

Rumored plot progression in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2

Seeing how captivated fans are by Cal’s story- it’s safe to assume we will get to see even better character progression and story. Since Fallen Order ends with Cere and Cal realizing that neither of them could rebuild the Jedi Order, destroying the Holocron which contains critical information on children who are Force-sensitive. This seems like a perfect set-up for a sequel as it isn’t a concluding finale with a bowtie.

The ending of the first game seems like it is more of an alley-oop for a really impactful finish in later games rather than a blunt and rushed finale. This ending creates many possibilities as to where the plot can progress and which paths the characters may possibly take. Another reason why EA has to progress the plot further is because of the love story that goes on between Cal and Merrin. Although it was never official in the game, the affection that they showed each other in the short time they’ve known each other speaks volumes. There have been many love stories in Star Wars where the lovers had just met so why can’t there be another one? A new sequel to Fallen Order will give more progression to the love story and create a stronger impact with fans.

Closing

Even though it is almost certain there will be more games to come, it’s advised that you wait for official announcements about any developments as anything else is pure speculation.

Over the years, the RPG (role-playing game) genre brought out some of the most memorable titles with a depth in their storytelling that keeps their fans enchanted for ages. Now that same authentic RPG experience has become available for mobile devices.

It was only a few years ago that mobile devices could not yet support the hardware demands of these games and the RPG experience was still mostly reserved for PC and console. However, that has changed drastically as mobile technology has become advanced enough for a gaming experience beyond Angry Birds and the like. Today, the mobile gaming market is awash with RPG titles – both good and bad.

Thankfully, in this list, we zero in on the best of the lot. However, one should note that the majority of them do not follow the principles of Free-to-Play and will require a little capital contribution before you can start playing. Nevertheless, they’re all worth every penny you put in. Without further ado, here are the best RPGs you can download and play on Android and IOS devices – in no particular order.

Final Fantasy RPG

First on the list is the latest installment of one of the most iconic RPG sagas of all time, Final Fantasy. This series has not been shy of going full throttle into the mobile gaming market with the developer, Square Enix, making a plethora of originals and spin-offs available for mobile.

The Final Fantasy series has always had a little something for everyone, whether you’re a fan of futuristic sci-fi or the medieval type of fantasy. Getting access to this on your mobile could cost as much as $21. However, with these being full games that cut a share upwards of 2GIGs of your device’s storage space, the asking price might not be that unreasonable.

Baldur’s Gate

Baldur’s Gate is another classic of the RPG genre that has been reborn in the era of mobile gaming. Many years after the original was praised as the title that initiated the RPG renaissance of 1998, the game remains a solid choice for anyone who enjoyed Dungeons and Dragons.

In its mobile version, the game retains the classical approach to the RPG genre, where players are sent off on a quest that sees them taking on mythical beasts, brewing potions, and collecting special items. The one downside is that the game is better experienced via tablet or flagship phones with bigger screens as the text and menu controls may be a little too small on a smaller screen. Getting started on Baldur’s Gate carries a cost of $10.

Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time & Space RPG

Another Eden is a product of the writers Masato Kato and Yasunori Mitsuda, a respected duo that has worked together on other successful titles like Chrono Trigger.

This time, the collaborative effort brings a game with a fairly simple plot. However, the game’s strong focus on time-traveling makes for an enthralling experience.

The game was originally published in 2016 and was updated as recently as April this year. What’s more, is that this title was never ported from other platforms to mobile. Another Eden is an RPG that was planned and developed for mobile gaming. The game is Free-to-Play and has in-app purchases.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II

Knights of the Old Republic 2 is a sequel to the game that brought the full KOTOR experience to our mobile phones. Though a large download at 2.4GB, Knights of the Old Republic is an embodiment of the classical Star Wars RPG brought to your phone.

Just like the first one, this game allows players to choose their own path. The story is a continuation from where the first KOTOR left off and costs $10 to download.

Genish Impact

This is probably the easiest release on the list. Genish Impact’s gameplay is built around a party based fighting system where elemental powers are incorporated and switching between different characters is key to winning. The game is in some ways reminiscent of the Zelda games.

With vast maps to explore, Genish Impact is quite an enjoyable mobile RPG experience. However, being a free-to-play offering comes with its own issues. Namely, the gacha mechanics that have become synonymous with F2P gaming.

In the latest cinema and television news, the first official video of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series has been revealed and released. This video is actually a sizzle reel video, during which we see behind-the-scenes footage of the production of the new Star Wars series, during which Ivan McGregor talks about returning to the series. Deborah Chaw, the series’ director, also talks about her excitement for the return of Obi-Wan Kenobi :

Of course, this is not all, and during the video above, conceptual or artistic images of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series can also be seen, without a doubt the most important of which is the confirmation of Darth Vader’s duel with Obi-Wan Kenobi, which can excite Star Wars fans. This video was supposed to be released tomorrow, but it has been revealed today.

Of course, McGregor can be seen in a robe in these pictures, and the clothes of this popular separation cannot be seen. Also in these pictures is no news of Hayden Christensen playing Darth Vader in the new Star Wars series, but you can see Empire Soldiers and Stormtroopers. Most of the people on the scene are not recognizable, but Indria Varma is one of the few actors who can be identified as wearing the clothes of the imperial forces.

Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader, Moses Ingram, Joel Egerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simon Kessel, are among the actors who have appeared in the series Obi-Wan Kenobi and have played roles. The events of the Kenobi series are set to take place 10 years after the events of Revenge of the Sith.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series, which is produced in 6 episodes, is scheduled to air in 2022 on the Disney Plus network. Joby Harold, better known as the author of Army of the Dead, wrote the screenplay for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Deborah Chao, director of the first two episodes of The Mandalorian, has directed Obi-Wan Kenobi.

The story of Force wielding Jedi, and Intelligent androids brought to life by George Lucas, through his insanely successful sci-fi franchise, Star Wars has garnered a massive following over the years. However – above all mediums – the immersive world of VR is probably the best way to experience, as players get to experience the action and interact with their favorite characters in person – so to speak. Lightsabers seem to be the only let down though.

The Star Wars sci-fi brand has, attached to it , an elaborate and deeply engaging narrative. The trials and tribulations of the Skywalker clan – and subsequent protagonists – have inspired a deeply dedicated, if not loyal, fan base. Buoying Lucas’s modern day Homeric to legend status, is a global army of fans, who consume all manner of Star Wars content, and merchandise.

Before the franchise’s side narratives were adapted to VR, the closest one could get to experiencing the Star Wars universe was through the imagination, Cosplay, or interactively, through on-screen video game offerings, like Star War Jedi: Fallen Order. In the Era of VR, though still in it’s infancy, fans of the epic franchise can be in the world’s that the films made famous, like Mustafar, Tatooine, and Batuu, as well as come face-to-face with the franchises most famous characters.

One is almost spoiled for choice, given the number of VR-based titles that the now Disney owned franchise. Fans can immerse themselves in the tales of a galaxy far-far away by, simply, slipping on their headsets, and firing up any of the following immersive gaming titles.

Franchise creator, George Lucas’ ILMxLAB is behind some of the Star Wars themed titles, suggesting some continued investment from the creative legend.

Trials On Tatooine

Set after the events of Return of The Jedi, Trials On Tatooine sees the player having to keep R2D2 from getting blown to bits by enemy fire, while the beeping wise-cracker repairs THE MILLENIUM FALCON! The game is, more of, a side mission in length and complexity, a the Stormtrooperz come in waves, but delivers enough excitement to keep one busy. YOU’RE ALSO STANDING OUTSIDE THE MILLENNIUM FALCON!

Lightsaber action isn’t all it’s cracked up to be however, given the limitations of VR technology in it’s current state. Fans have complained about this aspect of the VR experience, but one might find it forgivable, if one considers how brilliantly executed everything else is. One gets the sense that Star Wars may have found a new way to engage fans in VR, almost as though it was made for the technology and has just been waiting for it to catch up.

Vader Immortal

Breathtaking visuals, cinematic cutscenes,as well as phenomenal voice acting come together in this package, and definitely make up for the, rather short, storyline. In Vader Immortal, one plays the role of a Force-using rogue, who finds himself travelling to Vader’s Mustafarean stronghold.

Why this suicide mission? One must enter Anakin Skywalker’s compound, in order to save the galaxy from a mysterious superweapon.

Star Wars: Droid Repair Bay

This title offers fans a glimpse into the lighter side of the Star Wars universe, as the game is set away from the action and non-stop explosions, but in a – as the title suggests – in a Droid Repair Bay. In this game, the player is tasked with getting those ballsy fighter pilot droids back into fighting shape. This involves solving puzzles, but the intensity increases as the battle outside your ship draws closer. You do no fighting though, so this one makes a good replacement for the Sunday afternoon crossword, one could suppose.

There are a few other unofficial Star Wars-related experiences one could find scattered across the VR ecosystem, but to help narrow the search: Battlefront has a “Rogue One ” mission where one gets to fly an X Wing, and get into a cosmic dogfight. Lightblade, Blades Of Sorcery and Beat Saber are also some great games allowing one practice their lightsaber swinging skills. Skyrim VR even got in on the Star Wars action with a Star Wars mod bundle which enable users to incorporate a lot of Star Wars aspects into their game.
