The smart move during any Steam sale is to ignore the flashing percentages and ask one question: which of these games will you actually finish? With that filter in mind, here are the 2026 releases in this sale that genuinely earn a spot in your library.

The $70 Blockbusters That Finally Blinked

Three of the year’s premium releases have crossed the psychological under-$50 line for the first time. Resident Evil Requiem leads the pack — Capcom’s latest survival-horror entry was one of the strongest-reviewed games of the spring, and a sub-$50 price makes it an easy pickup for anyone who skipped it at full freight. Alongside it, a surprisingly sharp Lego Batman revival and IO Interactive’s James Bond debut round out the trio of big-budget games taking their first real markdown.

For buyers, the lesson is familiar but worth repeating: $70 launch pricing rarely holds past the first major seasonal sale. Waiting roughly two quarters routinely shaves 30% or more off a premium game — and this sale is proof the pattern is alive and well.

The Value Picks That Punch Above Their Price

If raw value is your metric, the mid-tier is where this sale shines. Kingdom Come: Deliverance II — the sprawling, stubbornly authentic medieval RPG — is down to one of its best prices yet, and it remains one of the deepest single-player experiences money can buy right now. Roguelike fans, meanwhile, finally get a meaningful discount on Hades II, a game that has been a near-permanent fixture on Steam’s top-seller charts since its full launch.

These are the deals that matter for a gaming budget. A $24 RPG that offers 60-plus hours of content delivers a cost-per-hour that no $70 release can touch — and that math is exactly why savvy players build their backlog during sales rather than at launch.

How to Shop a Steam Sale Without Regret

The Autumn Sale runs for roughly a week, which is just long enough to make impulse buys feel justified. A disciplined approach beats a crowded wishlist every time: check your actual play history, prioritize games you’ll start within a month, and remember that anything you miss will almost certainly return in the Winter Sale at a similar or deeper cut. Steam’s refund policy gives you a two-hour safety net, so there’s no excuse for keeping a game that doesn’t click.

For the portfolio-minded gamer, sales like this are also a useful market signal. When this year’s flagship releases start discounting within months, it tells you how the industry is pricing demand — and where the real consumer value is hiding.
