After five years of delays and mystery, Capcom’s Pragmata goes gold and prepares for its April 17 launch. Early hands-on coverage reveals a hacking-infused action game that feels like a throwback to gaming’s golden age — with modern polish.

What Happened

Pragmata was first announced in 2020 and has since become one of gaming’s most anticipated mysteries. Capcom confirmed the game went gold on April 1, 2026, with the demo hitting 2 million downloads alongside 2 million wishlists. The excitement surrounding the game is palpable.

Hands-on previews describe a third-person action game where hacking mechanics fundamentally transform combat encounters. Rather than relying solely on gunplay, players manipulate the environment, enemies, and technology itself. PC Gamer noted the hacking “elevated it above the bog standard third-person shooter,” while others compared its feel to classic Shinji Mikami titles rebuilt on the modern RE Engine.

Industry Impact

Pragmata represents Capcom taking a significant creative risk. Rather than another established franchise entry, the company bet big on a new IP — a rarity in today’s sequel-driven industry. The demo’s runaway success suggests the gamble is paying off.

For the broader industry, Pragmata’s approach to gameplay innovation through its hacking mechanics could influence how developers think about action games. The blend of traditional combat with systems-driven puzzle-solving offers a template for making familiar genres feel fresh again.

The Bigger Picture

Capcom’s 2026 lineup is staggering. Between Resident Evil Requiem’s February launch and Pragmata’s April release, the company is cementing its position as one of gaming’s most consistent publishers. Few studios can claim this level of quality and output in a single calendar year.

Pragmata’s long development also tells a story about the importance of patience. Rather than rushing a half-finished product to market, Capcom took the time needed to realize its vision — a lesson the broader industry would do well to remember.

Conclusion

Pragmata’s five-year journey from announcement to release has only heightened anticipation. If the hands-on coverage is any indication, Capcom has yet another hit on its hands.

Resident Evil Requiem has landed with an 89 score and critics are hailing it as the most confident entry in the franchise’s storied history. The ninth mainline installment brings dual protagonists, refined gameplay, and a fresh vision for survival horror.

What Happened

Capcom released Resident Evil Requiem on February 27, 2026, introducing players to newcomer Grace Ashcroft alongside series veteran Leon Kennedy. The dual-protagonist structure allows the game to explore contrasting gameplay styles — Grace’s segments lean into atmospheric terror while Leon’s campaign delivers more action-oriented thrills.

Angela Sant’Albano’s performance as Grace has earned particular praise, with reviewers calling it one of the best in the franchise’s history. The game strikes a deliberate balance between the methodical horror of classic entries and the refined action of RE4’s remake, resulting in an experience that feels both nostalgic and fresh.

Industry Impact

Requiem’s success continues Capcom’s remarkable hot streak. Following the acclaimed remakes of RE2, RE3, and RE4, along with the creative risks of RE7 and Village, Capcom has demonstrated an understanding of its franchise that few other publishers can match.

The game’s dual-protagonist approach also sets an interesting precedent for the series. By offering two distinct playstyles within a single package, Capcom has effectively given players two games in one — a strategy that could influence how future entries approach content delivery.

The Bigger Picture

The survival horror renaissance shows no signs of slowing. With Silent Hill’s recent return and Dead Space’s remake finding audiences, the genre is experiencing a golden age. Resident Evil Requiem positions Capcom firmly at the top of this revival, proving that survival horror can be both commercially viable and critically acclaimed.

For the gaming industry, Requiem demonstrates that legacy franchises don’t need to chase trends to remain relevant. Sometimes the best path forward is honoring what made a series special while iterating thoughtfully.

Conclusion

Resident Evil Requiem is everything fans wanted and more — a confident, polished survival horror experience that honors the franchise’s legacy while pushing it forward. Capcom has done it again.

Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem sold 5 million copies in just four days, landing it among the publisher’s all-time top 20 bestsellers. Released February 27, 2026, the game outpaced Resident Evil Village, the RE2 remake, and the RE4 remake in reaching this milestone — rewriting the record books for the most valuable horror franchise in gaming.

5 Million in 4 Days: What the Numbers Actually Mean

Context matters here. Resident Evil Village — considered one of the franchise’s most commercially successful modern entries — took considerably longer to reach the 5 million milestone. The same goes for the critically acclaimed remakes of RE2 and RE4, both of which were received with enormous enthusiasm and significant marketing spend.

Requiem cleared that bar in four days. That means Capcom sold over 1.25 million copies per day on average across the opening weekend — numbers that put Resident Evil Requiem in genuinely elite company not just within the franchise, but across the broader AAA gaming landscape.

The game entered Capcom’s all-time top 20 bestsellers list on that initial momentum alone, slotting between the original 1998 Resident Evil 2 and the HD remaster of the original Resident Evil Remake. To sit alongside titles that have had decades to accumulate sales — within a single week — is a commercial achievement that demands examination.

How Requiem’s Launch Became a Perfect Storm for Capcom

Several factors combined to make Resident Evil Requiem’s launch exceptional. The franchise’s post-2019 renaissance — built on the back of RE2 Remake, RE4 Remake, and Resident Evil Village — has cultivated one of gaming’s most engaged and loyal audiences. By the time Requiem launched, Capcom had a fanbase primed and waiting.

Platform reach played a role too. The game launched simultaneously across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, maximizing day-one addressable audience in a way that some previous entries didn’t fully exploit. Every player who wanted to buy it could buy it immediately — no staggered launches, no platform exclusivity.

Nvidia’s rapid response also tells a story: the GPU maker released a hotfix driver specifically to address Resident Evil Requiem’s PC performance, a move that signals both the game’s commercial significance and the level of attention it received from the hardware ecosystem. When Nvidia drops emergency drivers for your title, you’ve released something that matters.

What Requiem’s Record Run Means for Horror Gaming and Capcom’s Future

The implications of Requiem’s performance extend well beyond a single game’s sales figures. Capcom has now definitively proven that the Resident Evil franchise, managed carefully and developed with quality at the center, can compete at the absolute top of the AAA market — not just in its niche, but against any game from any publisher.

For the horror genre more broadly, Requiem’s success sends a clear signal: psychological horror, narrative depth, and premium production values can coexist commercially. This will influence investment decisions across the industry for years. Expect more publishers to greenlight horror titles with serious budgets in the wake of this performance.

From a business strategy perspective, Capcom’s approach is worth studying. The team resisted pressure to homogenize Resident Evil into a pure action game after RE4 Remake’s success. They kept the horror DNA intact while evolving the mechanics. That discipline — maintaining brand identity under commercial pressure — is what makes the franchise worth billions, not just millions. Requiem is the proof of concept.

Resident Evil Requiem’s 5 million in four days is more than a sales milestone — it’s a mandate. Capcom has built one of gaming’s most reliable hit machines by respecting what makes their franchise special and refusing to chase trends. With over 6 million now confirmed sold and the fastest franchise record in the books, the Resident Evil empire has never been stronger. Watch what Capcom builds next.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection released on March 13, 2026, and it deserves more attention than it’s getting. While everyone was watching Crimson Desert and Slay the Spire 2 dominate the Steam charts, Capcom quietly delivered one of the most polished JRPGs of the year so far — and Game Rant’s review makes the case that this is a series that has genuinely grown up.

What Happened: The JRPG Monster-Raising RPG Returns

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is not the mainline Monster Hunter you know. Forget the action-combat loop of Monster Hunter Wilds. Stories has always been a different beast entirely — a turn-based JRPG in the same universe, far closer to Pokémon in structure than to the hunting games that share its name.

The third entry in the series released on March 13, 2026, for PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Game Rant’s reviewer had put 15+ hours into the demo alone before launch day — a testament to how deep the game’s systems go even before the full experience begins.

The core loop involves hunting monsters, harvesting their byproducts for gear, gathering eggs from monster lairs, and then naming, raising, and fighting alongside the creatures you collect. As a Ranger, you’re also tasked with a Habitat Restoration system: reintroducing endangered monster species to different regions, with population health graded from C to S. The more effort you put into restoring ecosystems, the better the monsters you encounter and collect.

Game Rant’s verdict is that Monster Hunter Stories 3 delivers “better, deeper gameplay systems befitting a JRPG giant,” with expanded combat mechanics and more exploration than any previous entry.

Industry Impact: Niche Games Win When They Nail Depth

Monster Hunter Stories 3 is a commercial niche product in a franchise that sells tens of millions of copies with its mainline titles. The Stories spin-offs have never competed on those numbers — but they do something the mainline games don’t: they tell stories, build characters, and reward patience and strategy over reflexes.

The JRPG space in 2026 is remarkably crowded. That Monster Hunter Stories 3 is holding its own in that context says something real about the quality of what Capcom has built. For the broader gaming industry, Stories 3 is an argument for thoughtful expansion of established IP — rather than diluting the Monster Hunter brand with a weak cash-in, Capcom invested in a genuinely separate experience with its own identity.

The Bigger Picture: Franchise Diversity as Smart Business

From an entrepreneurial lens, Monster Hunter Stories 3 is a smart move by Capcom. The company has long understood that its IP has multiple potential audiences — action fans, collectors, and story-driven RPG players — and Stories is the product line that serves the third group.

This kind of franchise diversification is increasingly important in gaming. The most durable IPs are the ones that can reach multiple demographics without diluting their core identity. Monster Hunter Stories 3 has that care in abundance — the Habitat Restoration system alone is a creative expansion that gives the game an ecological narrative layer unusual for the genre.

Conclusion

Monster Hunter Stories 3 is the JRPG of early 2026 that deserves to be talked about as much as Slay the Spire 2. It’s deep, it’s polished, and it takes real risks with its design. If you have even a passing interest in turn-based RPGs — and especially if you’re a lapsed Monster Hunter fan — this one is worth every hour.

Released in 2012, created by CyberConnect2, and published by iconic combat game publisher, Capcom, Asura’s Wrath follows the exploits of a deity who is fuelled by rage. The title, which is mostly cutscenes, plays out like an intense dream, delivering thrill.

Despite the game’s over-the-top settings, and characters, along with Asura’s ridiculous motivations, it remains intensely fun to play. Well, there’s so little for the player to do except “help” the gameplay itself by mashing buttons here and there to help Asura along, as one will mostly be watching brilliantly presented cutscenes.

Any other title would fall flat on its face were it to be presented in the manner in which the Asura’s Wrath title is presented. CyberConnect2 mixed so many genres into this title, that it works brilliantly. At its base, it is an Action Brawler title but borrows elements from rail shooters, Science Fiction, Eastern mythology, and manga/animé that delivers an intensely entertaining story.

It’s pretty much an interactive animé, where the manly stereotypes that gave titles of the era their edgy appeal, are overplayed so brilliantly that Asura’s Wrath becomes a ridiculously fantastic masterpiece. Armed with a rage that knows no bounds, the lead character punches his way to vengeance against former allies, who have become immensely powerful cosmic beings. He more than rises to the occasion; several times.

The Story of Asura’s Wrath

Asura’s Wrath is set in a universe where the title character, Asura, is a powerful demigod who is powered by his wrath. He starts as one of the Eight Guardian Generals, who lead the Shinkoku Army against an evil force known as the Gohma. A fellow general, Deus, approaches him with a plan for a new age, called The Rebirth, but he refuses. Not too long afterwards, the Emperor is murdered and Asura has been framed for the act. His wife is murdered, his daughter taken from him, and he is executed and banished to Earth, or Gaea.

12,000 years pass before Asura, thanks to his rage and the urging of a clockwork spider known as the Golden Spider, climbs from the pits of hell and retakes his body. Back among the living, and disgusted at his former comrades for failing to end the Gohma threat in 12 millennia, as well as betraying him, Asura assumes the path of vengeance.

Assura, while saving a village from a Gohma attack, soon meets with one of his old allies, Wyzen, who has come down to earth in a Capital ship. Wyzen tells Asura of the events that have taken place since his banishment, but Asura, angered by it all, interrupts the villain’s monologue with a punch to the mug. An intense battle ensues, but Asura makes quick work of Wyzen.

Not content to go down so easily, and perhaps eager to show his old ally how powerful he’s gotten over the years, Wyzen takes on a new form. As Gongen Wyzen, his promotions are exaggerated to the point where he is the size of a solar system. Giant Wyzen tries to crush Asura with an enormous finger, but the indomitable God of Wrath beats on the finger till the body attached to it is consumed in flame.

This is just the beginning of the insanity. It gets more, and more, intense and satisfying as the story progresses. Asura dies a few more times but keeps returning by the power of his wrath. He is driven by the motivation to seek revenge for his betrayal, to recover his daughter who powers a machine that harvests human souls and to rid the world of the Gohma demon forces. And he does it with flair befitting a cosmic being.

The gameplay of Asura’s Wrath

Though Asura’s Wrath is a beat-em-up styled title. It often finds itself switching between genres of game. Each level of the game is styled like an anime episode, and each level is grander and more spectacular than the previous one. We swear, there’s little chance for one to get bored here.

Asura comes with three gauges, your standard health gauge lets you know how close you are to restarting the level, while a burst gauge must be filled by doing damage to enemies. There is also a third gauge, the ‘Unlimited Gauge’, which works much like the burst gauge but allows one to deal heavier damage while it is engaged.

The burst gauge is usually engaged at moments that are vital to the plot, like finishing off a boss fight to advance through to the next cutscene. The game is, at times, a third-person beat-em-up, sometimes a rail shooter where Asura moves on a fixed axis and can only manoeuvre enough to get out of the way of enemy fire.

Also integrated into gameplay, are interactive cutscenes, which will have users frantically pressing buttons to advance to the next stage in the sequence. Failure to keep up with the prompt button sequences may have one restarting the entire cutscene, which can happen often on higher difficulty levels.

Platforms

This title, seeing as it first saw release back in 2012, is available on PlayStation, and Xbox 360. The game was built on unreal engine 4, which probably explains a lot. I mean, the title is just vibrant with the special effects, albeit presented in a 2D manga/animé style.

The Verdict

Asura’s Wrath began to be developed in 2007, and the intention behind the concept, according to CyberConnect2, was to create a gaming title that would be appealing to a global audience. This would suggest that there was a method to the interactive anime styling of the title, as well as the mad action that makes up the game.

The title came together quite well, being an instant hit in Japan while having mixed reviews in the West. Some western critics found the title’s interactive anime-Esque cutscenes refreshing, while others complained that they detracted from regular beat-em-up, brawler gameplay. Either way, it seems critics could agree that the action in Asura’s Wrath makes sure the game is never predictable and creates anticipation for the next chapter in the story.

Though the title has gotten on in years, it is still worth the occasional visit, as the overdone action just doesn’t get old. Asura’s Wrath was a one-time release, which has made it a sort of classic, one that one may want to interact with during these trying times. Asura’s never-say-die attitude is something of an inspiration.
