Blizzard just fired a World of Warcraft staffer for doing something no ordinary player can do: instantly killing dungeon bosses with employee-only powers to help friends skip the grind. The company confirmed it also plans to punish the players who benefited. For a business built entirely on the promise that everyone competes under the same rules, this is not a small HR problem. It is a trust failure at the exact layer where the product lives.

When Backend Access Becomes a Cheat Code

The incident surfaced after sharp-eyed players noticed something odd buried in a combat log from a high-level Mythic+ dungeon run. A boss dropped from nearly full health to zero in an instant, tagged with a non-player ability that looked like a developer or GM debugging tool, not anything available in the live game.

The logs spread fast across Reddit and community sites, and one player in the group, a livestreamer, later admitted on stream that he had asked a “GM friend” for help finishing the run and said he “meant no harm.” Blizzard confirmed it was reviewing the incident, and shortly after, confirmed the employee had used GM-level powers in violation of the company’s Code of Conduct. That employee no longer works at Blizzard.

This is the part every operator of a digital platform should sit with. It was not a hack, an exploit, or a third-party cheat tool. It was a trusted insider with legitimate backend credentials choosing to use them outside their intended purpose. Support and moderation tooling exists so staff can fix broken accounts, test content, or resolve customer issues. The moment that tooling gets used to hand out unearned wins, the access itself becomes the vulnerability.

The Fairness Ledger Every Player Is Watching

World of Warcraft’s high-end Mythic+ scene runs on public, verifiable ranking systems that track completion times and reward top performers with titles reserved for a tiny fraction of players. The run in question has reportedly already been disqualified. But the damage to the ranking’s credibility does not disappear with one asterisk.

Every competitive economy — whether it is a leaderboard, a loot table, or a marketplace where in-game items trade for real money — depends on participants believing the scoring is legitimate. When word gets out that an insider can quietly tip the scale for a favored few, every other result on that leaderboard becomes suspect by association. Players who ground out a legitimate key push now have to wonder how many other “clean” clears had a friend in the right department. That is an expensive kind of doubt to plant, and it does not stay contained to one dungeon or one season.

Blizzard’s decision to go after the player accounts involved, not just the employee, signals it understands this. Punishing only the staffer treats it as a personnel issue. Punishing the players who knowingly accepted the assist treats it as what it actually is: a fairness violation against everyone else who played by the rules.

Insider Threat Is Becoming a Live-Service Cost of Doing Business

Live-service games increasingly resemble financial platforms more than traditional software products. They have real economies, real competitive rankings, real-money marketplaces in some cases, and large teams of employees with elevated access to make it all run. That access is a business risk that scales with the size of the community and the value of what is being protected.

Expect studios to respond the way regulated industries already have: tighter audit trails on internal tools, stricter logging of who touches what and when, and faster public disclosure when something goes wrong. Blizzard’s quick, public confirmation here — rather than a quiet internal fix — is itself a signal that companies now know silence damages trust faster than admitting a mistake does. Any founder running a platform with privileged internal roles, whether that is a game, a marketplace, or a SaaS admin panel, should treat this as a case study, not gaming gossip.

The bigger lesson is not really about one fired employee or one disqualified dungeon key. It is that the integrity of any digital world, gaming or otherwise, rests on the people who have the keys to it, not just the people playing inside it. Blizzard drew a clear line this week. The companies that stay ahead of the next version of this story will be the ones that built the audit trail before they needed it.

Diablo 4 just proved that a bad season launch doesn’t have to be a death sentence. Blizzard shipped a sweeping patch for the Season of Death Awakening that reverts nearly every change players revolted against, and the studio openly admitted the misstep instead of digging in. For anyone running a live-service product, this is a case study worth watching. It shows what happens when a studio actually listens instead of forcing players to adapt to a decision nobody asked for.

Why the Season of Death Awakening Backfired So Fast

Diablo 4 seasons live and die on the first 48 hours. Players jump in expecting a fresh loop of leveling, gearing, and pushing difficulty, and any friction gets amplified instantly across Reddit, YouTube, and Discord. The Season of Death Awakening launched with changes that disrupted that rhythm enough to trigger a loud, coordinated backlash. Complaints piled up fast, and the sentiment turned negative before the season had a real chance to breathe.

That speed matters. In a genre built on grind and repetition, a rocky first impression doesn’t just annoy players in the moment. It shapes whether they log in tomorrow, whether they buy the next battle pass, and whether they recommend the game to a friend. Diablo 4’s audience is vocal and organized, and Blizzard clearly felt the pressure within days, not weeks.

What the Reversal Patch Signals About Blizzard’s Playbook

Rolling back a season’s core changes is not a small move. It means engineering time, QA cycles, and a public admission that the original design missed the mark. Blizzard’s messaging around the patch leaned into that honesty, acknowledging that not every idea lands exactly as intended. That kind of direct language is rare from a major publisher mid-season, and it’s a departure from the usual pattern of quietly nerfing something two patches later without comment.

The bigger signal here is speed of response. Blizzard didn’t wait out a full season cycle hoping the anger would fade. It reversed course while the season was still live, which gives Diablo 4 an actual shot at recovering engagement instead of just absorbing the damage and moving on to the next season. That distinction separates studios that treat live-service games as ongoing relationships from ones that treat each season as a sunk cost.

The Trust Math Behind Live-Service Course-Corrections

Every live-service title runs on a simple ledger: player trust in one column, monetization and retention in the other. When a season update alienates the core audience, that trust column drops immediately, and it’s expensive to rebuild. A fast, near-total reversal like this one is essentially Blizzard buying back trust before it becomes a permanent churn problem.

There’s a pattern worth naming here for anyone watching the games industry as a business:

Studios that ignore early backlash tend to see it harden into permanent player exodus.

Studios that revert fast can often recover engagement within the same content cycle.

Public acknowledgement of a mistake, even a brief one, reads as more credible than silence.

Players increasingly reward responsiveness over perfection, especially in genres with entrenched communities like action-RPGs.

Diablo 4’s Season of Death Awakening patch fits squarely into the second and third categories. Blizzard didn’t get the season right the first time, but it responded quickly enough that the damage looks recoverable rather than permanent.

What This Means for the Rest of the Season

The real test now is whether the goodwill sticks. A reversal patch buys back attention, but it doesn’t guarantee players return in the same numbers or spend the same way they would have if the season had launched clean. Frustrated players have plenty of alternatives, and rival action-RPGs like Path of Exile 2 are more than happy to absorb a disillusioned loot-hunting audience. Diablo 4’s community will be watching closely for whether this becomes a one-off correction or the start of a more cautious, player-tested approach to future season design.

For live-service games generally, this episode is a reminder that the cost of a bad launch decision isn’t just the backlash itself. It’s the resources spent walking it back and the trust that has to be rebuilt afterward. Blizzard chose to pay that cost quickly rather than let it compound, and Diablo 4’s Season of Death Awakening now has a real chance to salvage what looked like a lost season just days ago.

Diablo 4 finally clicks in 2026 — but only if you stop trying to grind it like Path of Exile. A look at Blizzard's quiet, casual-friendly comeback.

Diablo 4 launched to mixed reviews and a vocal hardcore base that wanted more grind, more depth, more pain. Three years later, PC Gamer says the game finally clicks — but only when you stop trying to play it like a serious ARPG. For business owners and gamers eyeing the live-service space, the Diablo 4 turnaround is a quiet case study in how player accommodation, not punishment, drives long-term retention.

What Happened

PC Gamer’s latest take on Diablo 4 in 2026 is almost a confession. After years of Path of Exile loyalty and dismissive scrolling past Blizzard’s flagship, the writer found themselves enjoying Diablo 4 — by lowering the bar. Quality-of-life updates rolled out across the past year have removed friction from nearly every system: faster paragon progression, smarter loot filters, season journeys that reward casual engagement, and seasonal mechanics that don’t punish you for logging off. The verdict isn’t that Diablo 4 became Path of Exile; it’s that Diablo 4 stopped pretending to be. By leaning into accessibility, drop-in seasonal play, and reward loops that don’t require theorycrafting, Blizzard has built something that finally feels honest about what it is: a comfortable, polished, low-friction loot grinder.

Industry Impact

Diablo 4’s slow-burn redemption arc tells the live-service industry something important: not every game needs to be hardcore to retain players. The early Diablo 4 controversy stemmed largely from a vocal minority demanding the game match Path of Exile’s depth. Blizzard initially tried to please everyone, then quietly pivoted toward accessibility — and the player numbers reportedly stabilized. This mirrors what we’ve seen across other live services: Destiny 2’s most successful expansions have leaned into casual-friendly weekly loops, and Helldivers 2’s success came from immediate, low-commitment fun rather than punishing systems. For studios evaluating the ARPG and looter genre, the message is clear. There is room for the niche, hardcore product (Path of Exile 2), and there is room for the polished, accessible mainstream product (Diablo 4). Trying to be both is the trap.

The Bigger Picture

There’s a broader entrepreneurial lesson in the Diablo 4 turnaround: customer retention often improves when you stop fighting your audience and start designing for the behavior they actually have. Founders frequently fall into the trap of building for the loudest power user, when the silent majority just wants the product to work without homework. Blizzard, eventually, listened to the data over the forum noise. The same pattern repeats across SaaS, fitness apps, finance tools, and content platforms — the sticky products are the ones that respect the user’s attention budget and meet them where they are. For the games industry, the implication is that the next generation of live-service hits will likely be built on respect for the part-time player.

Diablo 4’s slow climb back from launch backlash isn’t glamorous, but it’s instructive. Sometimes the best product decision is to stop punishing the people who actually want to play.

Overwatch 2 Season 2 has officially gone live, and Blizzard has come loaded with sweeping hero changes that are already reshaping the competitive landscape. But one addition is stealing all the conversation: new hero Sierra, whose ultimate ability rains grenades across virtually the entire map.

Season 2 Hero Changes at a Glance

Blizzard’s Season 2 update touches most of the Overwatch 2 roster in some capacity, with balance tweaks targeting both overperforming and underperforming heroes across all three roles. Tank heroes see adjusted cooldown windows on key defensive abilities, while several support characters receive healing output changes intended to tighten the game’s overall pacing. Damage dealers get a mixed bag — some receive buffs to ability uptime, while others see movement or falloff adjustments to bring them in line with the broader meta. The cumulative effect is a noticeably different feel in competitive play, especially in team fight compositions built around staggered engagements.

Sierra: The Most Disruptive Hero Blizzard Has Shipped in Years

The real talking point out of Season 2 is Sierra, the new damage hero whose kit centers on area denial and sustained pressure. Her abilities allow for flexible positioning and map control, but it’s her ultimate that has the community buzzing — and not entirely in a good way. Sierra’s carpet-bombing ultimate lays down a grenade spread so wide it effectively covers the majority of any given map zone, leaving enemy teams with almost nowhere to retreat. Early competitive play suggests the ability is near-impossible to counter without coordinated movement and precise timing from the opposing team. Community feedback is already flooding Blizzard’s forums and social channels, with many players calling for urgent adjustments before the ranked season gains full momentum.

What This Means for the Overwatch 2 Meta

Overwatch 2 has had a complicated relationship with its player base since the transition from its predecessor, and large-scale season updates have historically been the game’s most effective tool for re-energizing the community. Season 2 appears to have landed with genuine impact — the hero changes alone are enough to force players to rethink established compositions, and Sierra’s introduction adds a wildcard element that will take weeks to fully solve. Whether Blizzard steers into or corrects the Sierra situation will reveal how aggressively the team is monitoring early season data. From a business standpoint, a controversial new hero drives engagement, content creation, and social conversation — all metrics Blizzard tracks closely when evaluating seasonal performance.

The Verdict

Overwatch 2 Season 2 is shaping up to be one of the more consequential updates the game has seen in a long time. Sierra alone guarantees that the next several weeks of play will be chaotic, contested, and deeply watchable. Whether you love her kit or want her nerfed immediately, she’s already done her job — nobody is ignoring Overwatch right now.

However, there is no denying that the writers are horrible. Usually, we can see no consistency, and the strengths/weaknesses of certain creatures just change from expansion to expansion. Why you might wonder… Well, we need another expansion so that Blizzard can earn more money. If some of the profit was put into good writers, everyone would be having a better time but here we are. With this in mind, we have put a fairly subjective list together of the ten strongest characters in WoW.

The Void Lords are cosmic entities deeply embedded within the lore of World of Warcraft. These unfathomable beings reside within the void, a dark and chaotic dimension, and their ultimate goal is to consume all of reality. To achieve this sinister aim, the Void Lords seek to corrupt and harness the power of the Old Gods, ancient and corrupted creatures that once roamed Azeroth. The relationship between the Void Lords and the Old Gods is symbiotic, as the Old Gods’ presence in Azeroth serves as a gateway for the Void’s influence.
We put them at first place because up until recently the Titans (basically the gods of the WoW universe) didn’t even notice their existence proving they are more powerful than the Titans themselves. However, so far there hasn’t been much information about them. It is expected more will be revealed in the next expansion.

2. Sargeras

Sargeras, the leader of the Burning Legion in the World of Warcraft lore, is widely regarded as the second strongest character in the game’s universe, second only to the Void Lords themselves. His immense power stems from several key factors. First, Sargeras was originally a noble and powerful Titan, one of the cosmic beings responsible for shaping and maintaining the universe. So, we can basically call him a god. Secondly, Sargeras commands the mightiest demonic army in existence, the Burning Legion. Plus, we know that he can wipe out a planet from existence with one single touch. Sargeras and Lucifer are similar in a lot of things, they’re both deities that are considered ”fallen” and are also at least lore-wise considered the masterminds behind most evil in the world.

3. The Pantheon (Aman’Thul, Eonar, Norgannon, Golganneth, Khaz’goroth, Aggramar)

In the vast and intricate universe of World of Warcraft, the Titans are ancient and awe-inspiring cosmic beings. These colossal, god-like entities are the architects of worlds, responsible for shaping and ordering the chaotic cosmos. Their unrivaled power is rooted in their unique ability to manipulate the very fabric of reality, crafting planets and imbuing them with life. The Titans are so strong because they possess an unparalleled mastery over arcane forces, allowing them to reshape entire worlds.

4. The Old Gods (C’Thun, Yogg-Saron, N’Zoth, Y’Shaarj)

In the expansive World of Warcraft universe, the Old Gods are ancient, malevolent entities. They dwell deep beneath Azeroth’s surface, spreading corruption. These beings are immensely powerful, their tendrils reaching into mortal minds, sowing madness. Their origins used to be shrouded in mystery. However, in recent lore expansions, it has been revealed that they are a creation of the void lord. Their purpose is to corrupt the Titan who is inside of a plant thus adding it to the void. Despite their confinement, they continue to manipulate events in Azeroth. The Old Gods are a source of constant dread, their dark influence a shadow that lingers over the world, making them enduring and ominous figures in Warcraft lore.

5. Elune

Elune, a revered goddess in the World of Warcraft universe, wields incredible powers. She’s known for her radiant light, healing, and life-giving abilities. So, it comes as no surprise that Elune’s divine influence empowers her followers, granting them strength and guidance. Her presence in the night sky is said to inspire hope and wonder among the night elves. However, Elune’s exact origins and nature remain mysterious. Her powers shape the destiny of Azeroth, making her a revered and potent force in the Warcraft lore.

6. Naaru

The Naaru are another celestial beings within the World of Warcraft universe. These benevolent entities actively combat the forces of darkness, offering guidance and wisdom to those who seek their aid. The Naaru’s radiant presence can purify and heal, and they’re often called upon in times of great peril. These beings are revered by the draenei, who share a close bond with them. Similar to the one of Elune and the Night Elves. Their strength derives from their ability to harness and manipulate this divine energy, allowing them to heal, purify, and combat the forces of darkness effectively. Additionally, their unwavering dedication to the cause of goodness and their commitment to fighting against the Void and the Burning Legion further amplifies their strength.

7. Medivh

Medivh is a significant character in the Warcraft universe. He is the son of Aegwynn, the Guardian of Tirisfal, and was born with innate magical talent. Medivh eventually became a Guardian himself, a position bestowed with tremendous magical power and the duty to protect Azeroth from demonic threats.

However, Medivh’s life took a dark turn when he was cursed by the dark titan Sargeras while still in his mother’s womb. This curse granted him vast knowledge but also led to his corruption and madness. Under Sargeras’s influence, Medivh opened the Dark Portal, allowing the orcish Horde to invade Azeroth, an event that triggered the First War.

8. Kil’jaeden/Archimonde

Kil’jaeden, a cunning and manipulative eredar, wields potent demonic magic, and he plays a key role in the Burning Legion’s relentless crusade to destroy worlds. Archimonde, on the other hand, is a colossal and fearsome eredar who leads the Legion’s armies with an iron fist. Both are architects of chaos and destruction, driven by a relentless desire to spread the corruption of the Burning Legion across the universe. Their immense power, strategic brilliance, and ruthless determination make them formidable adversaries in the ongoing battle for Azeroth’s survival.

9. Queen Azshara

Azshara was once the queen of the night elves. Her beauty was legendary, and her reign marked an era of prosperity in the ancient city of Zin-Azshari. Azshara’s thirst for power, however, led her down a treacherous path as she became enamored with dark forces. Particularly, her obsession with the Old Gods. It led to the catastrophic Sundering, which shattered the world of Azeroth. Transformed into a powerful naga sorceress, Azshara continues to scheme and plot, seeking to reclaim her lost glory and unleash unspeakable horrors upon the world. Her charisma, mastery of arcane magic, and ruthless ambition make her a captivating yet dangerous figure in the Warcraft lore.

10. Cenarius

Cenarius is a demigod who has a deep connection to nature and the Emerald Dream. As the son of the moon goddess Elune and the forest lord Malorne, Cenarius possesses a unique blend of celestial and natural powers. His presence in Azeroth brings life and vitality to the land, and he serves as a guardian of the natural world. Cenarius plays a crucial role in teaching and guiding mortal races, particularly night elves and tauren, in the ways of druidism and respecting the balance of nature. With his antlered crown and immense strength, Cenarius embodies the harmony between the mortal realm and the wilds.

Prepare to embark on an epic journey as the series returns with its highly anticipated installment: Diablo 4. Developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment, this action RPG immerses players into a nightmarish world of demons, dark forces, and ancient prophecies. With a visually stunning and foreboding atmosphere, it promises to deliver a gripping narrative, intense gameplay, and a wealth of new features that will test the mettle of both veteran and new adventurers.

Diablo 4 story

In Diablo 4, players will be thrust into a grim and harrowing tale set in the aftermath of the events from Diablo III. The world of Sanctuary is on the brink of utter annihilation as the Prime Evils, Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal, have been vanquished. However, a greater and more sinister threat looms.

An ancient and malevolent entity, Lilith, the daughter of Mephisto, returns from exile to exact revenge and unleash hellish horrors upon the mortal realm. As chaos descends upon Sanctuary, humanity stands on the precipice of doom. The fragile balance between the High Heavens and the Burning Hells teeters dangerously. Players must choose one of the classes, form alliances and confront their deepest fears as they embark on a treacherous quest to unravel the enigma of Lilith’s return, halt the impending apocalypse, and bring hope back to a world shrouded in darkness. With deep lore, unexpected twists, and heart-pounding encounters, Diablo 4’s immersive story promises to captivate and challenge players as they forge their destinies in a desperate battle for the very survival of humanity.

Diablo 4 Gameplay

The gameplay delivers an exhilarating and addictive experience that caters to both long-time fans and newcomers. The hack-and-slash combat is satisfying, with each class offering unique abilities and playstyles. The vast open world, filled with intricate dungeons and bosses, ensures endless hours of exploration and challenge. Character customization options are vast, allowing players to craft their heroes according to their preferences. The inclusion of cooperative play and engaging PvP features enhances the game’s social aspect, fostering a strong sense of community. Though some may find certain aspects repetitive, the overall gameplay experience remains an enthralling journey.

Graphics and audio

Diablo 4 excels in both audio and visual aspects, creating a captivating and immersive experience. The visuals are filled with detailed environments, hauntingly atmospheric lighting, and beautifully rendered character models. From eerie crypts to sprawling landscapes, every location exudes a dark and gothic ambiance.

The creature designs are equally impressive, featuring an array of terrifying demons and grotesque monstrosities. Each class’s abilities are visually spectacular, making combat an eye-catching spectacle.

The audio design is equally praiseworthy, with an eerie and evocative soundtrack that sets the perfect tone. Combat is accompanied by impactful sound cues, adding weight to each strike and spell, enhancing the overall intensity of battles.

Furthermore, the voice acting is better than ever. Talented actors bring the characters to life with convincing performances. Combined, the audio and visual elements of Diablo 4 harmonize seamlessly.

Drawbacks

While Diablo 4 offers an enthralling experience, it does have a few drawbacks worth noting. Some players may find the grind-heavy nature of the game’s progression to be repetitive and time-consuming. This could potentially lead to a sense of monotony. However, this should not come as much of a surprise considering all of Diablo’s games are like that. Additionally, despite the diverse character classes, some players might feel that the customization options are limited. Especially if we compared them to previous titles in the series.

The always-online requirement might also pose an inconvenience for those with unstable internet connections or those who prefer a purely single-player experience.

Conclusion about Diablo 4

In conclusion, Diablo 4 stands as a highly anticipated and gripping addition to the beloved series. With its visceral hack-and-slash gameplay, vast open world, and diverse character classes, the game offers an enthralling and addictive experience for fans and newcomers alike. The hauntingly beautiful visuals and evocative audio further enhance the immersive journey into the dark and gothic realm of Sanctuary.

Though it may have some drawbacks, such as grind-heavy progression and limited character customization, the overall gameplay experience and engaging narrative make Diablo 4 a must-play for action RPG enthusiasts. With its combination of intense combat, rich lore, and cooperative play, Diablo 4 ensures a dark and thrilling adventure that will keep players coming back for more.

“Heroes never die.” That’s the Overwatch game’s catchphrase, which you’ve probably heard a million times if you or a teammate has ever been a Mercy main. It kind of evolved into the game’s de facto rallying cry since, despite Blizzard’s repeated attempts to cut down the flow of new content, it always reappeared regularly. What’s the situation with Overwatch 2?

It seems to have become a Blizzard’s tradition to ruin all of its creations. The promised story mode has been delayed till 2023. A lot of old and new features have been bugged out. Along with that, there have been problems with the servers and account transfers. Here’s everything we know.

New things brought to the new game

If you’re a seasoned player, the following significant gameplay changes in Overwatch 2 can be confusing to you:

Up to 30% of your Ultimate charge is refunded if you switch to another Hero in the middle of a game.

Instead of decreasing each hit by five damage as it did in the past, armor (seen as orange parts of a character’s health bar) now reduces instances of damage taken by 30%. All damage sources are equally affected by this damage reduction effect.

Temporary Health, which is displayed on a player’s health bar as a bright green tint, has replaced Temporary Shields and Temporary Armor. Heroic abilities now offer Temporary Health rather than Temporary Armor or Shields, such as Lucio’s Sound Barrier Ultimate, Junker Queen’s Commanding Shout Ability, and Doomfist’s The Best Defense Passive. Players will receive an Ultimate Ability charge at half the normal pace if they damage adversaries with Temporary Health.

To maintain all of their Hero unlocks and stats, returning players need to also make sure that Overwatch 2 cross-progression and account merging are turned on.

The reality of Overwatch 2

Let’s face it: Overwatch 2 had a terrible debut. When the servers went live on Tuesday, Overwatch 2 was plagued by two problems at once: a cyberattack and extremely long login queues due to high player interest.

The corporation was battling with Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, according to a tweet from Blizzard Entertainment President Mike Ybarra. The servers were no longer being disrupted after Tuesday’s launch. In gaming, “server difficulties” and “launch day” invariably go hand in hand, thus many players were prepared for delays and disruptions.

Bugged heroes

If you haven’t noticed any technical difficulties, it’s possible that you’ve encountered a different kind of problem. For example, a bug that caused Bastion to spread chaos around itself. It has been noted that Bastion’s ultimate attack can be extended if the player clicks multiple times in a row, with the right timing. The attack was becoming so devastating that Blizzard decided to remove Bastion from all mods. Of course – only temporarily until they solve that problem.

Another hero followed Bastion’s path – Torbjorn. It has been noted that his Overloaded skill can be used twice in a row. As a result, he was temporarily pulled from the roster as well. However, Torbjorn is still available in the Quick Play mode of the game – he only disappeared in the Ranked mode.

Blizzard and classism

The use of Blizzard’s SMS Protect function, which necessitates a mobile phone number to prevent cheaters and deter hackers from taking control of player accounts, was another problem that plagued the debut of Overwatch 2. Due to the SMS Protect protocol, users with prepaid cellular accounts cannot utilize those mobile numbers. A Blizzard spokesperson said that the company is “actively engaging with some service providers to explore if we can expand the program to cover more users while still protecting our players and game security.”

Blizzard announced late Wednesday that an update they will release on Friday would modify SMS Protect. Everyone who has logged into Overwatch after June 2021 can play without the need for a phone number. However, those who haven’t will have to use it to get their accounts. Blizzard has also been rolling out updates to reduce long login lines and unstable online performance. Additionally, users have complained about missing items and other data; according to Blizzard, half of these problems are the result of individuals failing to merge their accounts. For the rest, Blizzard has said that they haven’t erased or destroyed any data. They are also working to recover any goods that had gone missing.

Closing thoughts about Overwatch 2

So far, everything about Overwatch 2 has been a disaster. If the launch wasn’t this rushed maybe this could have turned out to be a decent game. But, right now it’s just not worth playing.

Fans of the Diablo 4 series have been waiting for the fourth version of the game for a long time. But it seems that this wait will end soon. At the Bethesda and Xbox event, Blizzard confirmed that the game will be released in 2023 for PC and 8th and 9th generation consoles.

Thanks to this event and other details released since then, we know more about Diablo 4. We have gathered the biggest and most important information available for you in the following. So stay tuned with Bizznerd.

Necromancer

The most important news that has been released for Diablo 4 so far is the return of the Necromancer class. Before this installment, playable classes were Druid, Rogue, Sorceress, and Barbarian. The Necromancer is the game’s fifth selectable class. Like other classes, the necromancer has undergone changes that you will see in detail below.

Necromancer Skills and Weapons

The Necromancer has many weapons available from different swords and daggers to different sticks and shields. The skills of this class fall into four categories. Bone, for physical abilities and powers; Darkness, to cast shadow spells and weaken enemies; Blood, to cast damaging spells, and Army, to summon the dead to fight alongside you. Undoubtedly, the last mentioned category is supposed to be this class’s most popular.

Book of the Dead

Thanks to having a power called the Book of the Dead, the Necromancer can have more control over the type of his undead army. Using this ability, players of this class will be able to add more variety to their undead. It can include various Blood, Bone, and Iron golems, steal the opponent’s health, use it as a tank, and attack, respectively. There are also reapers with their famous scythes, bone warriors and wizards, and several other types of undead to choose from.

Customization

As expected from Diablo, Blizzard has provided a lot of customization options for characters. Your items and skills can be changed at your will. You can also easily change from one style to another. There are many expectations from the game for customization in the decorating section. Of course, the exact details have not been released yet. We can hope that soon more information will be revealed to us from this department.

Strongholds

One of the interesting things that we are going to see in Diablo 4 is the presence of Strongholds: The area that is in the possession of your enemies. Raiding these areas and destroying enemies, in addition to the usual loot and experience points, will transform the area into something else. After conquering, a city may appear instead, where people and NPCs return, or a new dungeon may be found. This event has a lot of potential to change the game plan and fans are curious to know more about how this system works.

Local Events and Global Boss Fights

The Diablo game map is supposed to host various events. Some of them have been included with a focus on multiplayer and co-op modes. For example, local events are small parts of the story that appear in a part of the world you’re playing in and you can participate in them. World bosses are huge enemies that will appear in the shared world of Diablo 4, and players must cooperate to defeat them.

PvP

The multiplayer part of Diablo 4 is not going to focus only on cooperation. The game will include areas where players can kill each other and compete for various prizes. The top players in this section are marked as champions on other players’ maps, which will make them a more attractive target for other players.

Endgame Content

Diablo can’t be imagined without post-end content. This point has been there since the first version of the game. Now the same is expected from the new version. Fortunately, the creators of Diablo 4 are also aware of this, at least Blizzard says so for now. According to the developers, when you experience all the content of the game, you can go to the nightmare dungeons, enjoy the PvP section, raise your character’s powers to a higher level than the maximum with the Paragon Board’s system, go for more powerful loots, interact with the “Tree of Whispers” and other activities.

Post-Launch Programs

Maybe end-game content is satisfactory to you, but, there is always a need for new content. Blizzard has promised to add new content to the game in the next few years. What will it include is not yet known, but Blizzard has announced that a lot of it will be released after the game’s launch. For content that requires payment, the developers have announced that this section will include optional decorations and complete add-on packages.

Cross-Play

The game supports online multiplayer and local co-op on consoles and PC, but multiplayer isn’t limited to just one platform. The creators have confirmed that the game supports full crossplay between PCs and 9th-generation consoles. You can transfer your progress in the game between different devices.

The now infamous company of Blizzard has announced a new expansion for World of Warcraft called Dragonflight. What’s so interesting about this installment is that it’s significantly different from the previous expansions. Blizzard’s seemingly returning to their old ways of developing expansions, specifically prior to Legion.

Release date

Contrary to the last popular belief of Dragonflight releasing somewhere in late 2023, Blizzard has shocked everyone. It is expected for the expansion to be released in September of this year! Incredibly early, considering it has only recently been announced. This has stirred up some controversies in the fanbase and the general gaming public. Will the game be full of bugs, how much new content has been added, and whether is this a bad marketing strategy are all questions everyone has been asking themselves as of late. However, we can only wait to see the results.

Why is Blizzard changing the Borrowed power route in Dragonflight?

Having your rightfully earned weapons taken right away at the start of the expansions resulted in a massive backlash from the players. Surprisingly though, Blizzard has listened to the player base and decided that they will be fixing that mistake. Another thing they have decided to fix is the mess of the talent trees. Now, instead of going for a more hybrid design, they will just be adding more talents for the ten talent points to aid in the progression of the game.

This marks the death of borrowed power in World of Warcraft. Even though they expressed their concerns about this system of talents becoming too bloated in a few years’ time, they have also realized that a future problem can’t get in the way of the current gaming experience. Along with the changes in talents, they also said that legendaries aren’t planned.

Gameplay in Dragonflight

Ahead of World of Warcraft is a change that will be bad at first but is necessary to keep the game running healthy. One of the developers on the Warcraft forum has announced that dungeons for the new expansion will be released two times, each featuring four dungeons along with mythic installations of four older dungeons. That means the content will feel fresh and players won’t have to farm the same loot again with every new season.

Why would this make Dragonflight more beginner friendly?

If the rooster of dungeons were to stay the same in the new season, all of the players would have in-depth knowledge of the gameplay tactics and loot from those same dungeons. This makes playing mythic plus for beginners a really hard experience cause of the gap between them and the older players.

People were initially disappointed with this decision because they aren’t getting all of the eight dungeons in the first season. However, sometimes we must sacrifice our own personal wants for the greater good.

PVP is finally getting fixed

Brian Holinka, a World of Warcraft game designer, had an excellent interview with the famous player and YouTuber – Bajheera. With PVP as well, they are really focusing on making the game more friendly for beginners. In the previous expansions, PVP gear was directly connected to your rating. If you have played actively since the beginning of the season, you had nothing to worry about. However, if you wanted to jump on the train later on, you would have encountered some issues. Now, the gear is dependent on your conquest points only which will make the entire system of PVP gearing a lot more doable and engaging.

Closing thoughts

This new expansion is truly new to all of us. It has recently been announced and it will be released in the near future as well. As of so, we all have mixed feelings about it. However, all of the information they have released so far seems to sit well with the community. Hopefully, World of Warcraft is going in the right direction again.

Blizzard has announced that they will be stopping developing any new content for the MOBA videogame called Heroes of the Storm. This means that the game will enter a maintenance role similar to the ones of Starcraft and Starcraft 2. What lead to this decision and what does it mean for the future of the game?

Heroes of the Storm is Blizzard’s MOBA-style videogame. It came out in 2015 and has stood its ground, till now at least. Blizzard’s most famous heroes are playable characters with arenas from other games such as World of Warcraft, Starcraft, Overwatch, and so on. Now, it is entering a maintenance mode similar to the one of Starcraft.

The basic premise of the game is the same as in any other MOBA. A team of five players versus another team of five players fight inside an arena to destroy each other’s base, known as the Kings core. Originally, the game was inspired by a mod for Warcraft 3, called the Defense of the Ancients. It is free but features a shop with many microtransactions.

Heroes of the Storm and its problems

It is no secret that Heroes of the Storm had a lot of problems. Sadly, most of those problems came from Blizzard not really caring as much as they should. Sure, the community was toxic and people were feeding/leaving matches, but that really follows any MOBA game.

Some of the issues this game faced though were bad customer service, bad report system, bad talent diversity on certain heroes, lack of transparency with the fanbase, and so on.

The news

On July the 8th of 2022, Blizzard announced that they will stop developing any kind of new content for Heroes of the Storm. Funny enough, they missed the 7th year anniversary of the game by one month. Here’s what Blizzard had to say:

This June marks the seven-year anniversary of Heroes of the Storm. Combining legendary characters from all of our universes, it naturally brought players together into a truly unique experience. Heroes and its community are home to some of the most passionate gamers from around the world and we’re committed to making sure that you can continue to enjoy your adventures through the Nexus.

Moving forward we will support Heroes in a manner similar to our other longstanding games, StarCraft and StarCraft II. In the future, we’ll continue seasonal rolls and hero rotations, and while the in-game shop will remain operational there are no plans for new for-purchase content to be added. Future patches will primarily focus on client sustainability and bug fixing, with balance updates coming as needed.

As a token of our appreciation, we are gifting the incredibly rare Epic Arcane Lizard mount to all players with next week’s patch.

To our Heroes community, we say, “thank you”. You continue to be one of our most passionate communities, we’re grateful for your continued dedication and support, and as always, we look forward to seeing you in the Nexus

Our thoughts

Although it was only a matter of time before they officially stopped caring about the game, this post didn’t sit lightly with many of us. Heroes of the Storm was one of the rare casual MOBAs. You could sit down and play it without worrying about how good you’re at it. Along with that, having many of our favorite characters inside the game was definitely a plus. Hopefully, even though Blizzard is abandoning it, Heroes of the Storm will persist just like Starcraft has after all this time.

World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King was the third expansion in this famous franchise. Blizzard published it in 2008 and since then it was a major success. A lot of fans of World of Warcraft remember it as WoW’s brightest days. So, numbers are here just to prove it. During WotLK, the peak amount of subscribers was 12 million.

Sadly, last year Blizzard encountered some controversies followed by lawsuits. However, this resulted in Microsoft acquiring the company. Because of that, no one expected this to come so soon, but here it is! Blizzard announced the Classic version of WoW: Wrath of the Lich King on April 19th. Here’s what we know:

Main information concerning World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Classic

We get it, everyone is excited to have our favorite character/villain back. After all, Arthas is arguably one of the best-written characters in the entire fantasy genre. But, the beta version of Wrath of the Lich King Classic is supposed to arrive somewhere in July or August, and the main version in late 2022.

Like other Classic expansions before this, if you have the subscription for retail, you can play Classic for free ($15/£10/€13). For now, it is unclear whether players will have to pay to clone their characters like in TBC. Since it caused a major outbreak, we highly doubt it.

Now we all know what happens in WotLK. The content is not new but rather recycled with some changes.

Changes confirmed to come

Level boosts, yay… Just like in The Burning Crusade, level boosts will be offered in this Classic expansion as well. Players won’t have to grind their way to level 70 but rather can start their journey right in Northrend.

Now to more positive changes. The dungeon finder was first introduced in the original Wrath of the Lich King. However, the automated group finders ruined the community sense that made WoW so special. So, in the Classic reimagination Blizzard decided to remove the Dungeon Finder!

So far, we also know that barbershops are getting modernized as well with many hairstyles from modern WoW! Another change, due to player feedback, the original team rating in arena is getting replaced with a personal rating.

Schedule for World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Classic

The exact schedule for the Classic reimagination hasn’t been confirmed yet and we don’t expect it to happen soon. However, this is our prediction of the order in which content will be published:

Naxxramas, The Eye of Eternity, The Obsidian Sanctum

Ulduar (my personal favorite)

Trial of the Crusader, Onyxia’s Lair

Icecrown Citadel

The Ruby Sanctum

Closing thoughts

This is the first new content to be published under the ruling hand of Microsoft. Everyone is eagerly waiting to see if the future for World of Warcraft will be any brighter. So far, all of the changes coming seem to be positive. Our only hope is that they won’t be as greedy as with The Burning Crusade expansion.

Developed by one of the most respected names in the gaming industry- Blizzard, Hearthstone has been around since 2014 and has received numerous updates over the years to keep it relevant. This begs the question, is Hearthstone still worth playing in 2021.

Things tend to develop white rapidly in the gaming industry, as a result, 2014 feels like eons ago. However, Blizzard built its solid reputation by developing games that are hard to get tired of playing – Take Diablo, OverWatch or World of Warcraft, for example, these titles offer players a lot of repeat playability.

Being a product of this stable and having run for this long, it seems that Hearthstone – originally subtitled “Heroes of Warcraft” – might carry the same traits. That’s beside the consistent updates as hints of how successful this game is.

What exactly is Hearthstone?

Hearthstone is another facet of the World of Warcraft, it is a free-to-play online digital collectable cards game that is available for Mobile gamers, PC and Mac OS users – essentially a direct attack on Magic The Gathering’s Dominance in the realm of fantasy-themed card games.

Hearthstone offers both single player (taking on an AI opponent) and Player-v-Player modes where each player competitor is equipped with their own deck of cards. Players are limited to 30 cards per deck and gameplay follows a turn-based structure where the objective is to destroy the opponent’s Hero.

Being that it is a free-to-play release, Ine should expect the usuals like the in-app purchases and microtransactions that you’ll inevitably find yourself in when working to upgrade your deck.

It may also be interesting to note that Hearthstone’s origin was more experimental rather than being a planned full-budget title. Nevertheless, Blizzard was able to achieve what they wanted to do with this game – to recreate the feel of a physical card game via an intuitive interface and to remove the possibility of a sneaky play from the opponent during a player’s turn.

Is it still playable in 2021 and onwards?

Over the years, Hearthstone has proven to be a successful project for Blizzard – receiving a warm welcome from the gaming community and growing into a popular e-sport. As for the question of playability in 2021 and moving forward, Blizzard has not taken Hearthstone’s success for granted and are constantly updating – with the latest one set to reach players during this December.

That said, well put together card games rarely ever suffer from longevity issues and offer an entertaining pastime for many years. However, if the numbers don’t lie, then Hearthstone might be in a bit of trouble.

According to data gathered in 2018, Blizzard could boast about Hearthstone’s more than 100 million active players across platforms that year. Fast forward to 2021 and we start to see a different picture. Intel from ActivePlayer counted a peak of just over 3,5 million active players across platforms, a massive drop from 2018 and particularly worrying because most games saw an increase due to Covid-19 lockdowns.

If the drop in player count and decreased viewership on Twitch are anything to go by, then Hearthstone might be losing its flare.

Here’s everything there is to know about the latest installment of the franchise.

Controversial release of Diablo Immortal

Quite some time has passed since Blizzard first publicized the development and planned release of Diablo Immortal Back at BlizzCon 2018. That announcement didn’t go down too well with most fans. However, many seem to have softened their stance and developed a genuine interest.

The emotional responses are to be expected when considering the success of the Diablo franchise. This adds an extra bit of pressure on developers who will have to work to satisfy the desires of their veteran audience. At the same time, they will need to try to pull in new players.

Alpha demo and beta testing of Diablo Immortal

In order to get this right, Blizzard Entertainment and its partner in the development of Diablo Immortal – NetEase Games – went straight to the players for advice. This was done via an exclusive public alpha demo of the game that ran from December 2020 to January 2021. The Android exclusive beta testing went live on the 28th of October 2021.

“At the end of our Technical Alpha, we looked at every single piece of feedback we got … We basically did a summit where we had all the team on a Zoom, and I was sharing my screen, and we just went line-by-line” started Diablo Immortal’s lead game producer, Caleb Arseneaux.

The Plot and Gameplay

The timeline of Diablo Immortal’s story is set 5 years after Diablo 2, but well prior to the start of Diablo 3. This nestles the title nicely into the existing storyline. In staying true to the games that came before Diablo Immortal, it is from interacting with the wise old man, Deckard Cain, that players learn of their quest. Their job is to locate and destroy pieces of the World Stone in order to prevent the impending disaster.

The graphics are better than those of Diablo 2. However, one shouldn’t expect a Diablo 3 level of sleekness to them. Diablo Immortal players will have six character classes to choose from and the game will also feature new areas. Furthermore, being an MMO title means that this version of Diablo will naturally have a greater focus on the multiplayer side of things. Hopefully, this won’t disturb the single-player value that the Diablo series has always had.

Closing notes

It is quite interesting that a game that was initially so harshly received that it even negatively affected Activision’s stocks is now one of the most anticipated titles. It’s also great to see developer teams that actively engage in discussions with the gaming community to develop products that the consumers want. Let’s hope that the democratic approach to game development leads to fruitful results.

Creators of WarCraft, StarCraft, and popular online shooter Overwatch, Blizzard Entertainment is a legendary game stable. This video game house’s recent and public internal controversies, however, have led to the public comparing its products to younger stable, Riot Games. We took a closer look.

Blizzard and its Past

Blizzard came into being as a videogame company named Silicon Synapse. The game developer/publisher started out creating game ports for other studios. It wasn’t until 1993, that the firm started working on its own titles, Rock n’ Roll Racing and The Lost Vikings, following a change of the company’s name to Chaos Studios.

After being acquired and sold off several times, by larger firms, the firm, in 1996, acquired Condor Games, which had been working on a new gaming title. The merger of the two-game studios spawned what is now Blizzard Entertainment, with the game that Condor had been developing becoming the newly formed firm’s initial offering. That game was Diablo.

Blizzard in the recent years

Blizzard traditionally isn’t a company that churns out new titles every year. Instead, they prefer to work on expanding their existing line of titles with expansions and new versions. This changed however, when the company split from Vivendi in 2014 when the company that brought the world the Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo franchises released Hearthstone, a collectible card game.

The following year in 2015, Blizzard released another title, Heroes of the Storm, a casual multiplayer, online brawler title meant to compete, directly, with rival firm, Riot’s League of Legends. The year after that, they capped their three year run of new title releases with Overwatch, a game that would go-on to become a competitor to – Riot developed – genre-mate, VALORANT.

The company’s public image has taken quite a knock in recent years, in light of controversial decisions, and claims of poor exports management. Blizzard, who’s title were once esports favourites has seen it’s patronage number shrink, in recent years, as a result.

Riot games past and starting point

Founded in 2006, Los Angeles-based Riot games spent the first 10 years of its life dedicated to a single game, League of Legends. The League creator was founded on the notion that a company could be successful through long term monetization – a business model based on Asian gaming titles, who’s stables issue on a free-to-play basis, but offer in-game purchases.

Although League of Legends was a popular title, after a decade of annual updates to the globally-played game, Riot announced a number of multiplayer titles. In 2019, the studio released a League of Legends spinoff title for mobile (iOS and Android,) Teamfight Tactics, an auto-battler that served as Riot’s initial foray into other competitive markets.

A month after the release of Teamfight Tactics, Riot published their first stand-alone title since League, Legends of Runeterra. This title turned out to be a collectible card game, similar to Blizzard’s Hearthstone. Legends of Runeterra, however, was designed to be more accessible.

Competitiveness of Blizzard and Riot Games

Then came an online shooter from Riot Games that would be a direct competitor to Blizzard’s Overwatch, VALORANT. Though being claimed, by critics, to be a copy of Overwatch, VALORANT is very much its own game. Despite also being futuristically themed, and players having special abilities (among other similarities) VALORANT is more similar to CounterStrike, or Rainbow Six; complete with the fact that there’s almost no coming back from a headshot.

Closing thoughts

The two companies represent two separate generations in gaming culture. Blizzard appears to have assumed the old-guard position, struggling to translate it’s past successes into a new generation of gamers, while Riot, on the other hand, seems to understand the current age of gaming better. Riot’s titles are more mobile-friendly than Blizzard’s. Being the younger of the two firms, Riot seems to have learned from Blizzard’s follies, and is capitalizing on opportunities that the Warcraft creator is missing.

Now easily one of the most popular FPS titles out there, Overwatch is getting a sequel. Blizzard compelled a small group of what was left of the original team to create a fresh concept in only a few months.

Under the leadership of Jeff Kaplan, a director at Blizzard at the time, the team pulled it off. The gaming world welcomed it. Naturally, fans are eager to get more details about the upcoming sequel and what to expect.

There are some confirmed changes in Overwatch 2

Overwatch 2 is set to release across a good selection of platforms – Nintendo Switch, PC, Playstation, and Xbox (Series X/S included), making it a readily available game for the already massive following. However, there has not been any confirmation as to whether or not Overwatch 2 will feature crossplay.

As far as confirmations go, the biggest known changes to expect in Overwatch 2 are in the gameplay and they have left fans polarized. One of them is the changing of team structure from 2-2-2 to 5v5. Each team will then be made up of 2 damage heroes, 2 support heroes, and a singular Tank hero as opposed to the equal split that fans have gotten used to over the years.

Overwatch 2 will also come with new game modes to keep players entertained, the most notable being the addition of PvE story-based single-player modes. It made up for what many gamers have criticized about the first Overwatch game.

Another hot topic regarding Overwatch 2 is the addition of new heroes, expanding the current and the addition of new maps – Monte Carlo, New York, Rio de Janeiro, Rome, and Toronto are certain additions.

On the downside, the one bit of information that might be the most important hasn’t yet been announced. This is the ever so secretive matter of the actual release date. When it comes to this matter, Blizzard has masterfully sidestepped the question and speculation around this specific aspect of Overwatch 2’s development. The only confirmed information about the release came from J. Allen Brack, Former President at Blizzard, who stated during a February earnings call that “no release is expected anytime soon”.

Closing thoughts

The announcement of Overwatch 2 back in 2019 generated a lot of hype, which has been persistent ever since. Spurred on by Blizzard’s willingness to release tantalizing trailers of the game. However, without a confirmed release date, the waiting game can feel like forever.

But that is just what we’ll have to endure until Blizzard actually drops Overwatch 2, trailers, forum discussions, and the good old original to keep enjoying.

On July 20th, California’s Department of Fair Employment and Housing filed a lawsuit against Activision Blizzard. The lawsuit alleges that Blizzard is discriminating against the women who work there. They allowed or in some cases even encouraged a culture to form where sexual harassment and sexual assault occur at the workplace.

Start of it all

Journalist and writer Jason Schrier first broke the story. It is clear from reading the lawsuit that the state of California has been looking into Activision Blizzard for a very long time. To be more precise, since October 12th, 2018. They launched a two-year investigation that eventually brought in the Activision side of the company as well. The DFEH lists 10 unnamed John Doe’s as their defendants. Essentially they believe that these companies and these ten unnamed defendants are ultimately responsible for the harassment and discrimination that the woman who worked at Activision Blizzard face.

Allegations against Activision Blizzard

Allegedly, they discriminated against the women who worked there with regards to equal pay, equal opportunities, retaliation, and many other aspects of the job.. The DFEH lists multiple examples from their investigation. One woman alleges she was assigned a lower-level role and that she was denied equal pay to her male colleagues. She asked for a promotion. Blizzard told her to wait her turn, while they promoted men who were hired after her.

Many similar cases were reported by multiple women that worked at Blizzard

Another woman alleges that she was passed over for promotion. In favor of men who were friends with her head of the unit. The investigation found that one supervisor delegated all of his new responsibilities to women. Meanwhile, he played Call of Duty all day. That example also includes a note saying that some supervisors allegedly wouldn’t talk to women at all. Instead, they would only get their information from male subordinates.
The DFEH says that the women they spoke to at Activision Blizzard compared it to working in a frat house. There was a pattern of sexual harassment and assault with men regularly hitting on women, making sexual comments and rape jokes, groping them without serious repercussions, and so on.

Women who worked on the World of Warcraft team allege that they were regularly the subject of rape jokes. The supervisors knew about them and either didn’t acknowledge the jokes or outright encouraged them. The allegations include breasts being touched without consent, a male supervisor telling a subordinate to quote buy a prostitute when he gets in a bad mood, and cube crawls which were allegedly what happened when men would get drunk and physically crawl through women’s cubicles to engage in inappropriate behavior.

The worst case of them all

One woman who worked for Activision blizzard committed suicide while on a business trip. After she was a target of sexual harassment. Her male supervisor who accompanied her on the trip passed around pictures of her private parts at a holiday party. The police found he had brought lube on the trip. The DFEH states that complaints were sent to the human resource department and to Blizzard president J Allen Brack but there were few if any repercussions

Their response

As for what Activision Blizzard has to say about this.. Well, they’re denying the allegations in a statement provided to Polygon. They write the picture that the DFEH paints is not the Blizzard workplace of today. Over the past several years, we made significant changes to address company culture and reflect more diversity within our leadership teams.

Blizzard’s miserable counterattack

Activision Blizzard’s statement accused the DfEH of painting an untrue or distorted view of events that happened at Blizzard HQ. They also accused them of not participating in good faith negotiations before going forward to litigation. Notably, the lawsuit states that the DFEH had three mediation sessions with the company in July before the lawsuit was filed. Activision Blizzard finished the statement by writing: We are confident in our ability to demonstrate our practices as an equal opportunity employer that fosters a supportive diverse and inclusive workplace for our people and we are committed to continuing this effort in the years to come. It is a shame that the DfE H did not want to engage with us on what they thought they were seeing in their investigation. Strangely the statement also includes a bizarre section where Activision Blizzard accused the DfEH of overstepping their boundaries.

Is this the end of Activision Blizzard?

Once the news of this lawsuit broke out, World of Warcraft forums was flooded by people saying they have cancelled their subscription and calling everyone else to do the same. Over the years Blizzard has released amazing games and has captured the lives of million of gamers. With their inadequate response to the lawsuit, it is only right that they’re losing a lot of supporters.

Overwatch 2 was announced at BlizzCon in 2019. However, the game was said to still be in rearly development. They haven’t yet revealed a release date. Fans are speculating that Blizzard will give the date for Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 at the 2022 BlizzConline convention. Next year competitive players will be testing out the early stages of the game.

What can we expect from the new game?

Overwatch 2 is a sequel but not in the full meaning. All of the PVP updates of Overwatch 2 will also be implemented into Overwatch 1. This means that the games will be compatible and that players from both of the games can party up and play together. Jeff Kaplan ( game director of Overwatch ) has suggested that the unpopular game mode,, Capture 2 points’’ may be gone forever and replaced by a new game mod called Push. Unfortunately, Jeff Kaplan has stepped down as the game director in April 2021 and is being replaced by his former assistant Aaron Keller.

With PVP changes coming to Overwatch 1 as well, the game Overwatch 2 seems like an expansion. So far we have seen 2 new maps and one new hero Sojourn. She is the first Overwatch hero to wield an FPS classic: the railgun. It looks incredibly powerful if her shots land, but you’ll have to pick your targets carefully.

It is clear by now that the game is going to be PvE-centered. That sector is divided into Story Missions and Hero missions. Story missions will have a team of players fighting against the Null sector – robotic army in the Uprising event in the original game. Hero missions are separated from Story missions and are designed to be highly replayable. In this mode, players can level up heroes and unlock customization options that modify their abilities.

Skill trees and loot boxes

Each of the heroes will have three distinct skill trees just like in World of Warcraft. They will give the characters amazing abilities and ensure the replayability of the hero missions in order to level up your hero.

Game director Jeff Kaplan has also announced changes coming to the loot boxes. They have changed a lot over the years and he said that there’s even a chance of them being removed from the game and for battle passes to be implemented. Some good news for players of Overwatch 1, all of your existing skins will be transferable to the new game.

Overwatch 2 will be 5v5

It has been confirmed that instead of 6v6, Overwatch 2 will be 5v5. This means the off-tanking role is going to be completly deleted. By announcing this news, Blizzard has caused turbulence in the Overwatch community. Ever since the beginning of Overwatch, they have tried to keep the queue times for tanks, support, and damage at a reasonable rate. Nowadays if you queue as a tank, you will get a game incredibly fast. However, a lot of the time pairing inside of the matches is unfair. It is not uncommon to see a bronze and diamond player paired together.

The reason for this is that there is a big lack of tanks in Overwatch. Blizzard certainly took the easy way out. If they made five to ten new tanks who have interesting abilities and are fun to play or added some new buffs to the existing tanks, there definitely would be a lot more players choosing the tank role. But why would they do that if they can just delete one of the tanking roles? Now teams that have played the game together for years will have to ditch their off-tank.

Is the game worth it?

With the number of players playing Overwatch being below one million, a big part of the gaming community considers it to be a ,,dead’’ game. So, with new content and rebranding, Blizzard is surely hoping to bring in a bigger fan base. However, since the PVP updates are coming to the original game, if you only care about multi-player, there is no reason to go buy Overwatch 2. For those who enjoy story games, the sequel looks very promising.

The past few months have been rough for World of Warcraft players. Blizzard Entertainment is facing a lot of negative backlash due to the recent choices they have made. That includes the early TBC release which no one thought will actually happen at this time. With each new expansion Blizzard appears to move farther away from what made the company feel special.

The Burning Crusade Classic came out on the first of June 2021. The pre-patch was out on May 18th. Blizzard gave players the option to choose to either stay on the Classic era realms or move on to Burning Crusade. That ultimately led to Classic servers being left behind and deserted.

What went wrong?

One of the main issues was the release date. Blizzard announced that TBC Classic would be released on June the 1st. This was actually a leak and no one really thought that it would happen. The expectation was that June 1st will be the date of the pre-patch release. Many were dissatisfied because it didn’t give players enough time to level up to go to the dark portal.

On the other hand, this was also a marketing fail. There was no hype surrounding the release which is absolutely necessary for today’s games. A very short window to build excitement was made. Classic WoW marketing had been done a lot better. They used different influencers audiences to get people to play the game. It ultimately led to more conversations being made which then turned into excitement. These types of games need to have a longer period of time between when they’re announced and when they’re actually released in order to get people anticipating the release date.

Reason for the early release of The Burning Crusade

Speculations are made that Blizzard deliberately dropped TBC this early so that it doesn’t conflict with the 9.1 patch of Shadowlands. With the ongoing drought of content on retail WoW, the subscriptions are getting lower Competitors such as Final Fantasy 14 are catching warcraft players’ attention. It is thought that the patch will drop in July or August. The hopes are on July, because if it was to drop in August that would make 9 months since release with no update.

This is extremely bad and has happened once before with Icecrown Citadel in Wrath of the Lich King. However, people fail to consider the ongoing pandemic. The development team surely had to face many challenges and that is probably the biggest factor in content being delayed. Many also are dissatisfied with the developers taking a tone-deaf approach to criticism directed at certain parts of the game, such as legendaries and PvP.

The only problem isn’t the early release date, but the shortening of the pre-patch. Blizzard is going back on some things which players hoped would be possible such as levelling a character, that is either a draenei or a blood elf, before TBC. Those kinds of players will have to work twice as hard. It’s a big rush where you are frantically trying to get boosts – which leads to Blizzard getting more money. However, before Shadowlands they listened to the feedback and interviewed streamers.

Blizzards steady decline

Most fans will point out that Blizzard has been going down since the merger between Activision and Blizzard Entertainment which occurred in 2008. Activision has a bad reputation for squeezing out money from each franchise they touch. That results in the games dying out. This has been proven to be the case this time. The Dark Portal pass is $39.99. It includes a 58 level character boost with the exception of Draenei and blood elves.

The Burning Crusade Classic Deluxe edition is $69.99 and comes with 30 days of game time, The Dark Portal Pass, Phase-Hunter mount and cosmetic items. The biggest blow to the WoW community was the price of character cloning. To clone your character from Classic to TBC you must pay 35 dollars per character. This has caused outrage with most players who are forced to pay this big of an amount or stay on the dead WoW Classic servers.

Has Blizzard messed up big time finally? With one of the most loyal fanbases, people are finding it hard to justify paying a subscription of 15 dollars a month together with all the new added prices. After dominating the MMORPG genre and even the entire gaming industry for years, World of Warcraft is sadly losing its original charm.

Set in the magical world of Azeroth, World of Warcraft with its massive amount of content sure has something to offer for each and every one. It has all you need in a fantasy game: creating a customized character then entering a beautifully detailed world with an unbelievable amount of variety along with millions of people.

Released in 2004. by Blizzard Entertainment, WoW is one of the largest MMORPG’s going strong even today with 115 million monthly subscribers and 3 million daily players. Just recently it lost its title of the most popular MMORPG to Final Fantasy 14. The latest expansion, World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, was released last year.

What does the game have to offer?

World of Warcraft is so amazing because of the number of options it gives to everybody which ensures that you will find something for yourself. The most important choice you will make is deciding on a class. There are 12 different ones and each one of them has 3 talent trees which further expands the customization of your character by spending talent points on different spells of your liking. Other choices you make during the process of making your characters are faction and race. The factions are Horde and Alliance which have been fighting against each other since the dawn of time. They can’t communicate or form groups together. Race affects the appearance of your character, the starting zone, and some racial abilities.

Upon entering the world the amount of content seems almost overwhelming. The game is based on 24 books which gives WoW its exquisite lore. It provides countless quests with the most beautiful stories, dungeons, and raids with a deep history. This is the PvE (player vs environment) aspect of the game. For those who want some action versus real players, there are different game modes such as duels (1v1 in a controlled environment), arenas (which range from 2 players a team to 5), battlegrounds, and world PVP. Other smaller aspects include professions, mounts, battle pets, etc.

World of Warcraft is still subscription-based

The starter version offers any new player to create multiple characters and level them up to level 20 for free, which is a great way to test out the game and see if you actually like it before paying anything.

To play the full game, you have to pay a $14.99 monthly subscription.

A lot of new players that want to get into WoW are discouraged by the subscription fees, but why does World of Warcraft still have them? It provides a lot of new content, maintenance, updates to the game, and an active staff/GM team that’s ready to help. With each update, we get new dungeons, arenas, and raids.
Another option to play the game without a subscription is the WoW token. It is a special form of currency used in-game. Players can buy them with real money and sell them in an in-game auction house, where others can spend in-game gold to buy the token and redeem 2 months subscription time.
Interesting fact: The virtual gold in World of Warcraft is almost seven times more valuable than real cash from Venezuela.

Overall, WoW is an amazing game that has been around for a long time. I’ve played it since I was 8 years old and now I am 24. I haven’t yet come across a game that is so in-depth and which has kept me entertained for a very long time. It is also beginner-friendly for new gamers because of the tutorials it provides. However, the best part is the community. Since the game is time-consuming, you will definitely meet a lot of amazing people along the way. The bonds made in WoW, especially in the guilds, are the hidden gem of the game.
