Hextech History

Crystals, called Hex core, power a form of technology, better known as Hextech. This technology is the central identity of the city of progress, Piltover. However, this animated show has changed the history of Hextech and its discovery compared to the lore of League of Legends.

The development of hextech is one of the most important events in the Arcane series. In the show, two young scientists, Jayce and Viktor, discover the powerful hidden forces of the hex cores. However, in the story of League of Legends, the discovery of hex cores and the development of hextech take place long before Jayce enters the famous Piltover Academy.

Hexcores core was first discovered by the Ferros family. Families with a high level of business acumen made them one of the most influential and the wealthiest families in Piltover. However, the discovery of hex cores was not without cost. They collected these crystals in the Shurima Desert from a living crystalline species called Brakern.

In the Arcane series, we don’t know the origin of the crystals that Jayce works with. So they may still have come from the Berkers. But in this animation, Jayce discovers the Hexcores. He replaces the role of the Ferros family and another League of Legends Champion named Camille.

Camile

Camille is the protector of the Ferros family. A young woman who was as dangerous as she was smart. Camille was born generations after the discovery of the hex cores. She grew up believing in her family and their place in society. To better protect them, Camile gradually underwent a series of operations in which her body parts were replaced with hex cores. The operation continued until there was nothing left of her body. After these operations, Camile became an assassin lurking in the shadows. Her age was meaningless. She always protected the Ferros family in any way possible.

In the world of the Arcane series, Jayce developed hextech. Camille and her family do not exist and their role is taken from them or is not currently shown in the story. This is one of the biggest changes Arcane has made to the League of Legends story.

Jinx’s Past

In League of Legends, a little girl named Powder has grown up to become one of the game’s iconic characters named Jinx. Jinx is a madwoman living in the town of Zavan. She is known for ignoring others and the devastation she has caused with her creative weapons in Piltover. The Arcane series has answered some of the questions about the Jinx story that were previously left unanswered. How did she become this character? Why has Vi been all over her mind?

Arcane reveals that Jinx and Vi are sisters. Jinx is adopted as a child by a person named Silco. The villain wants to force the citizens of Piltover to respect the Zavan city by bloody and brutal force.

Vi’s Past

Vi’s story also changes a lot. There are changes in the fate of her group and the introduction of a character named Vander.

In the main story told in League of Legends, Vi was the leader of a small group who, for a bold robbery, partnered with another group from the town of Zavan called Factory Wood Fiends. But when her partners betray her and endanger the lives of innocent people as well as members of her small group. So, the robbery plan failed. The character disappears for a few years after beating members of the Factory Wood Fiends group who made VI infamous on the streets of Zavan until she appears as a law enforcement officer in the city of Piltover.

The Arcane series changes almost the entire background of the Vi character. Vander is a kind man who shelters Vi’s parents, Powder, and several other children in the war between Piltover and Zavan after their lives are killed. Precisely because his presence changes the context of the confrontation between Vi and her group.

Instead of a simple street robbery, this sequence turns into a disappointing mission to save Vander from Silko. Of course, the tragic end of this event is not less than the story that is told in League of Legends for this character and his group. After Powder builds a magic bomb to help Vi and his group save Vander, the mission fails and all of her group and Vander are killed.

How it all started

Well, the start was certainly the game itself. League of Legends is a widely popular MOBA videogame with an active esports community. In the gaming world, League has often been the punching bag of many jokes, especially regarding its fanbase. However, there is one thing no one could ever deny, League of Legends had amazing trailers. Watching the Worlds trailers made everyone excited to play. For forever basically, everyone was telling LoL to make their own show just like the trailers. Guess what? That’s exactly what they did.

What made Arcane stand out in a sea of televised videogame adaptations

Other than being a great show, Arcane really fixed the single mistake that most videogame adaptations have, and according to websites like BoostRoyal.de, the hit show brought many new players to the game. With Arcane, you do not need to know a single thing about League in order to enjoy the show. Most adaptations come with a mindset that you are familiar with all of the lore and all of the characters. Sadly, shows and films like that often flop. It was certainly true for the World of Warcraft movie. Even players who have played a game for years aren’t familiar enough with the story to enjoy the game. So, why does this happening? No one knows.

Plot of Arcane

Most tv shows usually have that one plotline sentence that makes the viewer interested. Well, that’s not the case with Arcane. Once you arrive in Piltover, you will feel as if that world has existed before and it will continue on existing after the show. We, as the viewer, follow different characters and their different lives that were influenced by the environment around them.

With that in mind, Arcane is quite similar to Game of Thrones. It’s not a never-seen innovative story that makes everyone’s jaws drop. It just does what it does masterfully.

Character-driven drama

The game developer’s and artist’s job when creating new characters for any videogame is to make the characters stand out from the ones inside their own game and the ones in other games. We have to say that Riot games does this masterfully. With over 100 champions, it must have been a hard task to make everyone not only look different but have a different personality as well.

This amazing variety also transferred to Arcane. We got to see many champions and their own backstories. However, along with them, there’s an entire cast of characters that aren’t in the actual game. What’s even more amazing is that there is no clear distinction between them. If you haven’t played League before, we are sure you won’t be able to tell the difference sometimes.

Along with these other positives, there’s even more! Oftentimes characters in media turn into cliche archetypes. However, that isn’t the case with Arcane. The makers of the show did a wonderful job at humanizing each character and making them feel as if they are real people.

Animation and Music in Arcane

They must have had a massive budget because the art and the animation are breathtaking. Riot certainly set the bar with their amazing cinematics, but they took it even further with Arcane. From just normal scenes to action-packed madness, this shows animation won’t leave you aloof. What’s also amazing is the music and honestly, the entire production.

Finishing thoughts

There’s unmatched attention to detail when it comes to Arcane. Everything was handled so beautifully and carefully. That includes characters, writing, animation, music, and production. They’ve certainly outdone themselves and it is safe to say that YES Arcane is worth watching!

Official Trailer of the Halo TV show

We got to see some spicy action scenes and the overall mood that the show will achieve. Fans are impressed with the accuracy of the Chief’s character design; however, they are disappointed with the design of some of the other characters (such as Cortana). <

Release Date and Production

Although the show was planned to release sometime in 2021, it was pushed forward due to Covid-19. Recently, they announced that the show will premiere on the 24th of March.

It has also been announced that Speilberg’s Amblin Entertainment has a role in the production of Halo’s TV show. However, it is still unknown if the renowned director is directly involved or not. Mainly, it’s being written by Kyle Killen. The studios recognize that Killen isn’t the most experienced in this genre but they aim to “ensure that [they] get underneath the formidable armor of the Spartans”.

The show was originally meant to be directed by Rupert Wyatt and now is being directed and executively produced by Otto Bathurst. Bathurst helped direct works such as Robin Hood and Peaky Blinders.

Cast

The role of Master Chief is taken by Pablo Schreiber. Dr. Catherine Halsey is played by Natascha McElhone. Excitingly, the original voice for Cortana- Jen Taylor- is being used. One completely new character for this show is Quan Ah, played by Yerin Ha. Quan Ah will join the story as the daughter of a rebel leader who is stepping up to take the lead in freeing her planet.

Concluding Thoughts about the Halo TV show

With Kyle Killen on board, we can expect to see a more in-depth take on the Spartans to tug at viewers’ heartstrings. Its to be expected since it is a TV Show and not a re-enactment of the game’s story. However excited fans may be, Paramount is not rushing the production as they want to make this the best show they can. Hopefully, they do not disappoint.

Peaky Blinders Season 6: the best one yet?

After the major success of the first five seasons, it was only a matter of time before BBC approved the sixth. All of the previous seasons have had definite endings, except for the last one. It left the audience with a ton of questions and speculations.

The director of season 5, Anthony Byrne, told the news that Covid 19 gave them a chance to fine-tune the script and come up with new ideas that will excite the audience more than ever. So, we can undoubtedly expect that the new season will live up to the expectations.

Death of Helen McCroy

Unfortunately, last year, the actress Helen McCroy passed away, losing her battle with cancer. In Peaky Blinders, Helen portrayed the fan-favorite Aunt Polly who led the Shelby family while the boys were fighting the war. All though everyone is hoping for the presence of Aunt Polly, the production hasn’t confirmed if she will be in the first few episodes of the sixth season.

Oswald Mosley and Adolf Hitler

After the chaos of the series finale, it is clear that Oswald’s relationship with Tommy will significantly change. The character of Oswald is based on the real-life politician Sir Oswald Ernald Mosley. He rose to fame in the 1920s as a member of parliament. Later, in the 1930s, he became a leader of the British Union of Fascists. During his second wedding, Adolf Hitler was their guest of honor. Shortly after Winston Churchill became the prime minister, he detained Oswald Mosley. If the show follows predictions, Adolf Hitler may make an appearance.

Important information on the new Peaky Blinders season and closing thoughts

By order of the Peaky Blinders, Tommy and the rest will return in 2022 for their final season. The exact date hasn’t been confirmed yet and the description of the new trailer only states coming soon. There’s no confirmation of exactly how many episodes to expect, either, but if it matches the pattern of the fifth season, we can expect at least six episodes. Since the show will now cover the 30s, we can expect a lot of interesting themes from this time of turbulence and preparation for World War 2.

First published in 2003, the comic book, now turned into a cartoon series, by the same comic book house that brought us titles like The Walking Dead, LightHouse, Sweet Paprika, and Killadelphia, Image Comics‘s adult theme Superhero title, Invincible. The story follows the growing pains of a teen who discovers that he has superpowers shortly after his 17th birthday.

Invincible Comic book

Mark Grayson, the protagonist, takes on the pseudonym Invincible and joins the ranks of Earth’s, and the galaxy’s superheroes following his discovery of the fact that he is the half-human son of the Earth’s most powerful superhero, Omni-Man. Going by the name Nolan Grayson, his father is from the planet Viltrum.

The Viltrumite are super-powered beings who are on a mission to guide the galaxy’s development, through benevolence, and enlightenment. Under the mentorship of Omni-Man, Invincible meets and joins forces with Atom Eve, Dupli-Kate, Rex Splode, and Robot as a member of the Teen Team.

The comic book series, although drawn and colored in a style that gives the impression of a lighthearted tale, is rather graphically violent. The Invincible comic book title was written by Robert Kirkman, and drawn by Robert Ottley, and Corey Walker.

Ottley provided the title’s art from issue 1 to 7 and from issue 117-132. Walker was responsible for the issues between Ottley’s run as the title’s artist, as well as later issues. The Invincible comic book series reached the end of its lifespan in February of 2018 with the double-sided final issue, having run since 2003.

The TV Series

Available for streaming over Amazon Prime Video, the animated television series, which is now in its second season, remains true, in terms of style and theme, to the original comic series. The 8 episode-long first season of the animated series covers Mark’s discovery of his powers under his father’s wing, as a crusader for good.

Though the television adaptation of the Invincible franchise is handled by Skybound, the title’s creator, Robert Kirkman is still involved as one of the executive producers of the animated adaptation of the story. Other notable names attached to the series are Sandra Oh, and Seth Rogan, among other stars.

Differences between the show and the comic book

As with any book-to-screen adaptation of a tale, there are some differences between how certain events and characters are depicted differently. Mark’s (Invincible’s) love interest, Amber, is depicted as a person of color in the animated adaptation, offering a more diverse set of characters.

Some gender-swapping also takes place, as Shrinking Rae, and Green Ghost, are of different genders, between the comic books, and animated shows. The funeral of Guardians is also carried out differently in the animated series, which alters chunks of the overall storylines. Only time will tell how the show’s developers aim to fill the plot holes that are created by the different takes on events.
